You can also deep fry basic cheese curds or cheddar and dip them in barbecue sauce or ketchup. The brown, fried outer cheese acts as a coating for the goo inside.

Cheese is dipped in plain flour, then egg, then bread crumbs before being fried.

There's a fab caff in Bologna near the Archiginnasio that does wonderful cheese croquettes. Lard-u-like.

No, just the typical up-market Woking approach to chips'n'cheese.

I'd forgotten all about panzerotti! There was a greasy little place near my high school that had them, and my fellow pom pom girls and I used to scarf them before football games. Just thinking about them just made me get leftover pizza from my refrigerator for breakfast, as that's the closest I can get right now. Also, anyone who feels ill from fried cheese has clearly eaten too much of it. You're not supposed to eat a whole BOWL of cheese curds or anything. Sometimes, you just have to hold the fried cheese to your nose and take a good whiff, and that's enough.

There's a tandoori place near me that does paneer in the oven (it's a little lighter this way)... they serve it in chunks that are the size of Rubik's Cubes! Delicious.
