the bell jar is one of my favorite books. i like her prose more than her poetry.

what i REALLY don't get is this whole "anne sexton is better than sylvia plath" thing. she seems a LOT whinier and more rambling and self-indulgent to me than plath ever did.

one of the women, a poetry teacher, reminds me of ileanna douglas' character in ghost world,
