Brent Magna (Ethan Hawke) must get behind the wheel and follow the orders of a mysterious man (Jon Voight) to save his kidnapped wife. He is aided on his race against time by an anonymous, computer savvy girl known just as The Kid (Selena Gomez).[3] Rated PG-13.

This preview does not look good which is too bad because the book was really great

The tone here is like light-hearted family drama when the book was not like that at all. I don't even really remember the dad being a major character in the book. a

he'll be doing Sam Shepard's True West on Broadway next winter opposite Paul Dano (cast as the bookish one so Hawke can look feral by comparison)

I've got to admit, I kind of love how pretentious Hawke is. He's clearly pretty bright and has put a lot of thought into what he does, but while the way he always seems so focused on conveying both of those things rubs a lot of people the wrong way, I've actually grown to appreciate it.
