apparently the water stations were not prepared to handle the increased demand due to the weahter. i biked from the western and division to the hancock at noon and thought i was going to pass out by the time i jumped off the bike. i can't imagine trying to run in the heat.

I'm waiting to hear from my friend Sarah G., whom I went out to see at 9 this morning at Barry/Broadway. It was pretty amazing seeing the range of people running.

I hope she's okay, Eric!

I assume she is, but I hope so too. I can understand why people who have spent the year training almost daily for this would overexert themselves and keep going, as well as those runners who would need to finish this one to qualify for Boston.

A zillion runners comment here.
― Eazy, Monday, 8 October 2007 05:47 (sixteen years ago) link
Best comment? This is EXACTLY why you should never run unless something bad is chasing you!
― Eazy, Monday, 8 October 2007 05:55 (sixteen years ago) link
They should hold this in february. No chance of heat stroke.
― kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 06:38 (sixteen years ago) link
i can't sleep. i am literally just lying in bed, sweating and feeling terrible. i had sort of forgotten how badly the heat fucks with my ability to basically anything.
according to the little thermomer deal on my clock, it is 88 degrees in my room right now.
FUCK YOU
― river wolf, Monday, 8 October 2007 06:59 (sixteen years ago) link
that ain't right, it's only 74 outside. Open a window!
― kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 07:18 (sixteen years ago) link
i'm gonna go step in front of a bus

Chicago marathon next year. Me running it. Maybe?
― Jeff, Monday, 8 October 2007 11:40 (sixteen years ago) link
I'm sure I would destroy some part of my body.
― Jeff, Monday, 8 October 2007 11:42 (sixteen years ago) link
Why the hell don't my shoestrings ever come out even?
― Jeff, Monday, 8 October 2007 11:51 (sixteen years ago) link
this house is the most poorly insulated piece of shit ever
fully 15 degrees warmer in my room than outside. i think i slept like four hours.
whatever. at least i'm awake early. get 'er done!

Those games are fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun. Carcassonne is one of those games that looks really simply but has a lot of depth. Ticket to Ride is super fun because it is about TRAINS and MAPS.

I biked around a lake yesterday! It was fun!

Ohhh rw I feel your pain. The summer I was unemployed was the last summer I didn't have an air conditioner, and I don't think I slept more than 4 hours at a time. I spent my days in a coffee shop or the library just to not die.

The A/C at my office is not coming on. At all. The thermometer on the thermostat is at 82. SO FUCKING GROSS and it's only gonna get worse.
― Jesse, Monday, 8 October 2007 14:07 (sixteen years ago) link
This is so frustrating! It's OCTOBER. In CHICAGO. Fuck you weather.
Supposed to start cooling down tomorrow, down to low 60s by Weds/Thurs.

Damn, Nick beat me to it:
Wednesday 55 41 Mostly cloudy and cool with a chance of showers. High temperature struggles to reach the mid 50s. Gusty northwest winds.
― dan m, Monday, 8 October 2007 14:11 (sixteen years ago) link
Even tonight, lows in the mid-50s. Looks like we'll get a big storm this afternoon and then fall will be in full effect.
― Eazy, Monday, 8 October 2007 14:15 (sixteen years ago) link
That is great. But it does me no good today.
This morning I decided to wear shorts to work because 1) it's a "holiday" and the partners are not in town, and 2) it's time to do laundry.
I am psychic.

These and a starched shirt and a necktie would make a good office outfit.

I look as professional as is possible in my shorts. They are really nice navy (button fly) non-cargos and I'm wearing them with a blue and grey plaid short sleeve button up shirt from Banana. And cute but scuffed casual shoes.

I am optimistic about the A/C actually since NOTHING about it is working as opposed to the fan running and no cool air (which is a big tease). If even the fan is not running it just might mean that the breaker.
.... Damn. It's not the breaker.

I was about to say, before Jesse's message appeared, that I wore a sundress one time (staying at a house of guys and gals in Milwaukee) on a hot, hot day, and it was the most comfortable thing ever.
― Eazy, Monday, 8 October 2007 15:03 (sixteen years ago) link
should I wear a sundress when we play the pre-Ladyfest show this weekend y/n?

pro: I might be a pretty lady con: ladies might not have sense(s) of humor
other con: I would never actually do this

― KitCat, Monday, 8 October 2007 15:05 (sixteen years ago) link
I put on a sundress once or twice when I was like 12 and it was comfortable. You can tell they are just by looking at them.
Nick, I don't know what your masculine fashion question is, but the answer is probably SUNDRESS.

Men don't have any choices for clothes that let air billow between their thighs.
