Last night I wrote a song called "pay for it" with some frienz. The concept is very simple: if u want it, u gotta pay for it. Nothin's for freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (falsetto)

Jord I dunno, it depends on the situation. If someone asked me that just after picking me up in their car I would be weirded out.
R4amz recordings or it didn't happen. :D

i think my major problem is just the idea that sex is all that's going to pass between us. this sounds like some kinda hippie ish but i like when sex arises organically out of my talking/connecting with someone. like i'm vibing with a guy and it leads to other stuff. situations like what happened last night by contrast seem so...forced. i'm just not into sex with strangers as a way to relieve our mutual boredom. (not that i've not done it before and won't ever again.)

that's completely understandable, i wouldn't feel weird about it or think it's some sort of ridiculous hang-up.
hey, i read with k3vin k1llian last night! lots of my friends came! lots of poets came! it was awesome!!

you could have answered "pick up a couple beers" i guess

should also note that the dude lived about a half hour's drive away - so i) i wasn't especially looking forward to the long ride and ii) i felt pretty bad that i made the guy come so far to get me only to change my mind (for which i apologized to him)

Yeah pretty much. Some people are incredibly adept at looking completely different IRL than they do in photos.

I've never had anyone, what's the word, misrepresent themselves. When I started doing this via AOL in the late nineties it was a constant fear but it never arose. Part of my success was insisting on meeting in a bar first so I always had the option of ignoring him. Luckily it never rose to an impeachable offense -- the crime that is; can't speak for my dick.

Oh, sorry -- I meant the weather. Rainy Sunday. J0rdan will confirm.

Turning over a new leaf needn't mean changing your listening habits.
ehh if its an excuse to listen to the carpenters then
― plax (ico), Sunday, 8 August 2010 20:45 (fourteen years ago) link
yeah it's gross out here
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 8 August 2010 20:46 (fourteen years ago) link
No excuse needed to listen to the Carpenters imo.

Alfred, just to say: i listen to punk, bach, indian ragas, techno, whatever.

I wasn't asking for a defense of your music, tabes: I listened to Johnny Hates Jazz and Merle Haggard this afternoon. Can you explain what you dig about the Carpenters? I've hovered this close to buying a good comp. Oh -- while you're at it can you recommend a comp?
― Gucci Mane hermeneuticist (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 8 August 2010 20:58 (fourteen years ago) link
you can complain. but seeing as how i haven't seen rain since....two months ago, my sympathy isn't really with ya.

Gold is pretty awesome, imho.
i dunno, it's been a while since i thought of them, and then i read this book review in the NYT of a Karen biography, so i just pulled out my vinyl

― Janet Privacy Control (corey), Sunday, 8 August 2010 21:26 (fourteen years ago) link

― janice (surm), Sunday, 8 August 2010 21:28 (fourteen years ago) link
corey, if it makes you feel any better, i once friended this boy in college, then he unfriended me, then a week ago he friended me again. he is really interesting now, think he's matured a lot (he is like six years younger than me and i had no place hitting on him in the first place tbh).
― pounding beats of worship (the table is the table), Sunday, 8 August 2010 21:43 (fourteen years ago) link
Yeah. I mean, I've done my fair share of cutting off people whose only tie to me is via online and then contacted them again for arbitrary reasons. I just thought it was weird unless T just doesn't check his friend requests or something.
― Janet Privacy Control (corey), Sunday, 8 August 2010 21:49 (fourteen years ago) link
yeah. i mean, this kid just got freaked out by me, but i think he is no longer freaked out because he got into performance art and shit and understands a bit more of where i was coming from.
― pounding beats of worship (the table is the table), Sunday, 8 August 2010 21:50 (fourteen years ago) link
I actually just recently got in touch with someone I'd more or less "deleted" from my life because they were exceedingly negative and it turns out he's just about to start private composition study with a pretty prominent american composer, so people do grow up!
― Janet Privacy Control (corey), Sunday, 8 August 2010 22:08 (fourteen years ago) link
yeah.. actually, maybe his art has grown up and he's done a little bit more of it too, but man his blog is just....like....he's a very conflicted individual. deeply conflicted, i should say.
― pounding beats of worship (the table is the table), Sunday, 8 August 2010 22:22 (fourteen years ago) link

i get that, corey, but i mean, this kid is a performance artist type, a composer, and a total gym rat. yet he is also intensely shy and can't find anything but anonymous sex but he wants a real relationship, at least thats what i glean from his blog. i mean the contradictions are endless, i have many myself, but not as many as him... also just for edification:
