You know what is cuet? The Midwestern man's habit of wearing athletic shoes with khakis. I wouldn't do it but it is adorable.

Wait, I've been holed up in a basement for most of the weekend, so let me get this straight: the NLCS is between the Rockies and the Diamondbacks?!

Thanks for linking that article, Eric. It was fascinating.
I wore khakis in college paired with band shirts as well, but I drew rocketships and flowers all over my pants which made them anti-conformist.

xp yeah I saw that one

I went out with a guy who was wearing a pair of shorts with a flame logo on them. Inside of the flame he drew a Jesus fish "burning in hell."
He is 37 and a college librarian.

yes.
I only saw Saturday's game but the Cubs were pathetic enough to make me kind of glad I missed the other two.
― n/a, Monday, 8 October 2007 16:45 (sixteen years ago) link
yes, jaymc. No one will watch the NLCS on either coast, except, y'know, baseball fans.

I mean, Soriano sucked too but Ramirez just looked completely lost.

From that Glaswell article, an advertiser, talking about ads:
Look at beer commercials. They always have these gorgeous girls--even now, after all the heat--and the guys are always just guys. That's the way it is. We only reflect what's happening out there, we're not creating it...You can't alter men's minds, particularly on subjects like sexuality. It'll never happen."

(Not only did the breaker blow, but it was a big enough power surge that it blew a internal transformer--did we have thunderstorms over the weekend??)

I told Jenny, and I'm funna tell you -- I'm abstracting a deposition that at points could work well as Dadaist dialog.
I'm going to just start writing:

also, that article was v v interesting, especially after having worked in the advertising industry, at a firm that prided itself on only doing Guy Stuff.
also funny in light of my "just jeans and a t-shirt, thanks."

I think it's totally fair, re "guys" and clothing, to see "getting dressed" (or "dressed up") as a JOB, and clothes etc being the GEAR you NEED to get the job done. In that light, you can justify some neat shit to yourself as being a means to an end. You still have to choose an appropriate "end", though, I guess.

Sigh. I am prolonging men's fashion convo b/c I miss my man and this is an excuse to think about dressing men I like in clothes I like. Win/win!

mmm... Ben Sherman. So britisher. It's not a crazy-ass pring or anything, just modest stripes, but the cut is what makes it special.
