Just got out of a meeting where I had to explain to our management team from Germany that naming our extended Black Friday sale "Black Week" was maybe not a good idea.

got them to settle on "Our week long Black Friday sale" literally hours before they sent the blast out to like 25,000 customers.

I couldn't find a more appropriate thread for this: https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/02/tech/amazon-auschwitz-products-removed-scli-intl/index.html

Selling "Christmas ornaments" with images of Auschwitz does not seem appropriate. Auschwitz on a bottle opener is rather disturbing and disrespectful. We ask @amazon to remove the items of those suppliers. https://t.co/0uG2JG558e pic.twitter.com/ucZoTWPk1W— Auschwitz Memorial (@AuschwitzMuseum) December 1, 2019

I have to applaud Auschwitz Memorial's stone-faced reaction to this horrifying shit:
Sadly, it is not over yet @amazon. The "Massacre Auschwitcz (!) Birkenau Jewish Death" mousepad is another disturbing online product. We are not sure if @yadvashem would like the "Christmas ornament" with a freight car used for deporting Jews for extermination either. https://t.co/qDEEzqzwSU pic.twitter.com/wXExhFZPmV— Auschwitz Memorial (@AuschwitzMuseum) December 1, 2019

Kind of glad there wasn't a more appropriate thread for it? This one barely is tbh.
In the wake of DJP's link, there were some local stories here consisting of the same "bad taste" element. Online vendors pull xmas stuff or postcards or canvas posters that were "decorated" w/ images of concentration camps. Any morality is lost on bots (and those who let bots roam free), but I've seen shops online presenting posters/stickers/canvas etc with questionable content before. Basically, the "store" works as follows: if it's an image that exists on the internet, we can print it for you on X, look: here's an example.
xps all otm

I'm in a facebook group that documents US conservatives' weird obsession with AOC, and there were some bottle opener images recently that gave me flashbacks to this thread (especially with the handful of "I don't see how that's racist" replies).
Just goes to show, the real divide on the "Racist trinkets: classic or dud?" issue has never been UK/US

(AOC = Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the popular young Democratic congresswoman from NYC. Sorry I didn't spell it out in my post!)
