September is generally a good weather month in England.

did you see the rain last night

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:46 (thirteen years ago) link

anyway i'm not sure there's any 'what should i do?' question that's ever been asked of anyone not on a liver transplant waitlist that can't be answered w/ WHISKY

nakhchivan, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:47 (thirteen years ago) link

xp not in england

k¸ (darraghmac), Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:47 (thirteen years ago) link

*by* anyone xp

nakhchivan, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:47 (thirteen years ago) link

October's usually pretty sweet as well. July has become a freaking liability.

ooh nakh there's a thought

acoleuthic, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:47 (thirteen years ago) link

tbf there was insanely heavy rain in london about two hours ago iirc

Who in their right mind thought that signing this lot and then ridiculously hyping them would be a good idea?

Matt DC, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:48 (thirteen years ago) link

that's just a radiographer conference u clown

― k¸ (darraghmac), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:45 (2 minutes ago)

still giggling btw

today's weather has been wondrously schiz - bright sunshine + blue sky now

lex don't look at that youtube

acoleuthic, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:49 (thirteen years ago) link

No Lex you should look at it I want to see the bewilderment and spitting disgust.

Matt DC, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:50 (thirteen years ago) link

NO month in this country is reliable weather-wise. THIS IS ENGLAND. you go abroad to festivals.

Who in their right mind thought that signing this lot and then ridiculously hyping them would be a good idea?

and who in their right mind thinks that going to spend an evening watching them THIRTEEN YEARS ON or however long it is, is a good idea?

i'm going to see giggs tonight.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:51 (thirteen years ago) link

i saw a picture of the lead singer on twitter. i have no intention of hearing anything that comes out of his mouth.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:52 (thirteen years ago) link

If you take into account their relative ponderousness then Giggs is to British rap what Ultrasound were to 90s indie.

Matt DC, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:53 (thirteen years ago) link

hahahaha it's take no prisoners day!

I've had the ticket for 3 months. Stay Young is their big single, most of their music is way more complex and clusterfucked than that. They're big Cardiacs fans too! This is how I roll, sorry.

acoleuthic, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:54 (thirteen years ago) link

giggs isn't exactly a franz liszt in 1852 level draw himself, unless catatonically slow rappers from peckham are more highly regarded than they ought to be

ha xp

nakhchivan, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:55 (thirteen years ago) link

oh my god

oh my god

i clicked on the youtube link

i can't breathe i'm laughing so much

what the hell is that

what is he doing with his voice

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:56 (thirteen years ago) link

that's actually avid merrion doing thom yorke, isn't it

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:57 (thirteen years ago) link

*rips up ticket*

*it is an e-ticket, prints out ticket again*

acoleuthic, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:57 (thirteen years ago) link

are you going to do the poll or shall i?

nakhchivan, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:58 (thirteen years ago) link

go for it, include an option for 'radiography conference'

acoleuthic, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:59 (thirteen years ago) link

i should clarify that i'm not exactly super-stoked about giggs, his pr invited me and i feel i should check out just how crazy the kids go for him, for journalistic purposes

plus i've been ill and haven't left the house in 5 days so a bit stir-crazy

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:00 (thirteen years ago) link

but i still can't get over JUST HOW DREADFUL ultrasound were. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL!

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:01 (thirteen years ago) link

Poll options should be:

- Bestival
- Ultrasound reunion gig
- Giggs
- Radiography conference
- Franz Liszt in 1852
- Staying in and watching Peggy Mitchell die in a fire

Leaning towards the last option.

Matt DC, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:02 (thirteen years ago) link

I was wondering what on earth was going on in this thread to pick up so many new answers to quickly, but I'm super glad I clicked on it.

Lex, you are wonderful. <3

cymose corymb (Karen D. Tregaskin), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:03 (thirteen years ago) link

lex has me guiltily laughing @ myself, gotta confess

acoleuthic, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:04 (thirteen years ago) link

my actual dilemma is tomorrow, fwd x rinse 16th bday @ fabric or optimo and prins thomas @ corsica. i don't even know if i'll be well enough to go raving ;_;

apparently r kelly's asked for glist for fwd x rinse...but it's at fabric. optimo/prins more likely to end in a bin (not sure if that's a plus or minus), but it's south of the river, ugh.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:04 (thirteen years ago) link

we were dropped on our heads as babies and now we like ultrasound, football and prawn pizza

lex fear not the south - we're a welcoming sort

assuming the "we" is constant in those sentences, you make south londoners seem like village idiots.

...yeah.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:07 (thirteen years ago) link

Ekstravaganza is basically the best regular night in London and this one has Optimo + Prins plus Idjut Boys. Also Corsica is the best venue in London that isn't Plastic People.

Matt DC, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:08 (thirteen years ago) link

would really like to go to that but i can't because i'll be at...bestival

jabba hands, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:08 (thirteen years ago) link

that was the first (and last) time i've heard ultrasound and giggs pretty much wins by default

i don't think i can countenance doing a poll, i'd feel like whichever nervous wreck has to sell ppv rights for audley harrison vs nikolai valuev

nakhchivan, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:10 (thirteen years ago) link

ultrasound have a song called 'new direction' hurrrrr

The sulky expression from the hilarious "Aubrey Plaza" persona (history mayne), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:10 (thirteen years ago) link

idk i really didn't feel the prins thomas album. i know that has little bearing on what he'll play out. i don't think i've really liked an optimo mix for a while either. and fabric is easier to get home from if i flake early.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:11 (thirteen years ago) link

Reading this thread from the bottom up, I thought for one incredible moment that Lex had gone to one of the Ultrasound reunion gigs. If that had happened, Lex, I would have personally kidnapped Nicki Minaj and delivered her to your home to rap your life for you.

ithappens, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:11 (thirteen years ago) link

Prins as a DJ >>>>>>> Prins as a recording artist, though.

(xpost - there is still time)

Matt DC, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:12 (thirteen years ago) link

ppl from north london affectatiously playing up their horror at going saaf vs ppl from south london nurturing strange transpontine resentments

nakhchivan, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:12 (thirteen years ago) link

i don't even know if i could take an hour (or, shudder, more) of...whatever that was that ultrasound were doing, no matter how many nicki minajes were waiting for me at the other end

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:15 (thirteen years ago) link

i can dimly remember ultrasound as a name from the late 1990s, but there were all kinds of no-hope guitar bands getting money in the wake of britpop. like muse, whatever happened to them.

The sulky expression from the hilarious "Aubrey Plaza" persona (history mayne), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:15 (thirteen years ago) link

ok here's my favourite Ultrasound song, in case yr all gonna base it entirely on Matt's youtube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6tCA_k8ddY

this is pretty much the definition of futile but let it not be said that I did not try

acoleuthic, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:16 (thirteen years ago) link

btw I have no problem with people from N London - I embrace them and expect them to return the favour

Corsica Studios isn't even *real* South London, it's Elephant and Bloody Castle - you can pretty much *walk* there from the river. (Though, actually, erm, don't. It's still patchy around the Elephant.)

cymose corymb (Karen D. Tregaskin), Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:22 (thirteen years ago) link

damn i thought ultrasound were early 90s

yeah i wasn't suggesting lj back there, he's very much of the brzezinski school of transpontine realists, unlike those weird trolls who live under bermondsey railway arches singing southlands uber alles

nakhchivan, Thursday, 9 September 2010 16:23 (thirteen years ago) link

This. You might as well complain about visiting the royal festival hall or the NFT...
