The A/C came! We will have coolness soon-ish.

(Not only did the breaker blow, but it was a big enough power surge that it blew a internal transformer--did we have thunderstorms over the weekend??)

Jesse, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I didn't notice any, but we will tonight.

Hight tomorrow of 75, high Wednesday of... wait for it... 56.

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:38 (sixteen years ago) link

God I'm so ready. I'm so ready for cool weather I can hardly stand it. I swear to you, I'm hard.

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:39 (sixteen years ago) link

Ew.

Jesse, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh god, sweaters. Oh GOD, GIVE IT TO ME!

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:41 (sixteen years ago) link

I told Jenny, and I'm funna tell you -- I'm abstracting a deposition that at points could work well as Dadaist dialog.

I'm going to just start writing:

Pg. 40 - Life is essentially without meaning.

ned raggett is a college librarian.

also, that article was v v interesting, especially after having worked in the advertising industry, at a firm that prided itself on only doing Guy Stuff.

also funny in light of my "just jeans and a t-shirt, thanks."

river wolf, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:50 (sixteen years ago) link

I spent most of this weekend wearing a wifebeater.

Jordan, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:53 (sixteen years ago) link

I spent most of this weekend wearing a yukata.

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:55 (sixteen years ago) link

I wish I were just wearing a wifebeater.

Jesse, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:55 (sixteen years ago) link

I think it's totally fair, re "guys" and clothing, to see "getting dressed" (or "dressed up") as a JOB, and clothes etc being the GEAR you NEED to get the job done. In that light, you can justify some neat shit to yourself as being a means to an end. You still have to choose an appropriate "end", though, I guess.

Laurel, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:57 (sixteen years ago) link

Sigh. I am prolonging men's fashion convo b/c I miss my man and this is an excuse to think about dressing men I like in clothes I like. Win/win!

Laurel, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I've got a prit-y strong suspicion that I will be leaving work early today. Too fucking hot and it's a High Holiday.

Jesse, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link

i recently purchased a suit. i brought my sister.

river wolf, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link

It can't be a High Holy Day, my boss is here. Or was that a joke?

Laurel, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:01 (sixteen years ago) link

It's Columbus Day.

Jesse, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:01 (sixteen years ago) link

Thus my Holiday Shorts.

:) :)

I am wearing the lovely Ben Sherman shirt that the lovely and tasteful Julia got me as an early birthday present.

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:17 (sixteen years ago) link

mmm... Ben Sherman. So britisher. It's not a crazy-ass pring or anything, just modest stripes, but the cut is what makes it special.

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:18 (sixteen years ago) link

PRINT, not pring

Haha, I am wearing a Ben Sherman shirt today that Renee bought me when we were dating.

jaymc, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

I think I've only seen Ben Sherman clothes for sale at the Virgin Megastore (RIP).

Eazy, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Some Ben Sherman shirts carry the risk of making you look like a latter-day Doogie Howser. But I do love the cut, slightly tapered at the waist, giving you that hott triangular shape even when you haven't entirely earned it.

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:25 (sixteen years ago) link

jenny passed the bar? YAY!!!

ok, what's your specialty? labor law? my friend jay's brother has already been tabbed as my lawyer when i get pinched by the pigs and put in the pokey which makes total sense since he practices contract law. so my labor lawyering friend, you will be my go to person on all matters concerning real estate law.

chicago kevin, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:25 (sixteen years ago) link

I like Ben Sherman but as I just noted in the man fashion thread, I can't wear any clothes with logos or brand names on them, and all the Ben Sherman shirts have "BEN SHERMAN" splashed on them somewhere.

n/a, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:27 (sixteen years ago) link

oh yeah, in case I didn't say so publicly, YAY JENNY!

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:27 (sixteen years ago) link

I was trying to find an image of the shirt that I'm wearing, but this came up instead:

x-post - At Filene's Basement I've seen some nice linen shirts from Ralph Lauren, but can't do the polo logo.

I know what you mean, but not the one I have on. It has the insignia on one cuff. No thang.

it's 1:30 in the afternoon and i'm still sitting on my couch wearing boxers and a grey calvin klein t-shirt. HI DERE POST-EMPLOYMENT DEPRESSION.

chicago kevin, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:31 (sixteen years ago) link

If you morphed me and Kenan and Dan together and added a strange and ugly t-shirt, I think you would end up with that photo.

Eazy, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Jenny's friend at work tells me that Jenny is not around a computer today.

deej, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:34 (sixteen years ago) link

I know nothing about Ben Sherman apart from the shirt on my back right now. I really do like the way it fits but would have no way of knowing whether that's a "Ben Sherman" thing or not. I would likely not have even heard of Ben Sherman if it wasn't marked on my shirt (and btw, it's pretty inconspicuous, on the tail).

jaymc, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Hey. Guess what??

The assoc. went downtown to the fed. courthouse and was befuddled as to why it was closed and then he realized it was Columbus day. Then he called me and said, "Hey, I think we should leave work early b/c it's a fucking holiday and the courts are closed. I have no authority to tell you to knock off early, but it's a holiday! What are we doing at work?"

I agree, Mr. Assoc. I agree.
