Neighbour trouble

Jon, I work on call on weekends and at night. I'd probably complain to neighbours having a noisy 3am party too, and consider calling the cops. Some of us get really sick and messed up if we have our sleep fucked with.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:04 (eighteen years ago) link

Whatever you guys. It'd just be decent of you to give it a rest for a few days.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:04 (eighteen years ago) link

Kim OTM. Or maybe next time one of Jons friends is in a car accident I'll just laugh at him for being upset enough to get easily stressed out at stuff.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:06 (eighteen years ago) link

That aside, I think saying "we have a RIGHT to be as noisy as we want on weekends, screw you guys" is kind of lamearse.

WHERE IN THIS THREAD DID ANYONE MAKE A STATEMENT LIKE THIS?

xpost

Well there's like "noise" and then "NOIZE". And what you should expect hast to kind of vary based on what the neighborhood is like...

no tech! (ex machina), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:06 (eighteen years ago) link

Trayce, now you eat a dick. I didn't know that they were friends. And I don't think I should be forced to take someone's "fragile state of mind" into account when they act like a total asshole to me over a gentle jab.

no tech! (ex machina), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:08 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah good one trayce. nice one.

I live in an inner urban street full of apartments! I expect my neighbours to still show some commonsense politeness tho! If I have a party, I tell my mates not to yell/talk loud too much out on the balcony after midnight cos I know the sound travels! I keep the stereo reasonably low if it is late. Even on weekends!

WHERE IN THIS THREAD DID ANYONE MAKE A STATEMENT LIKE THIS?

You. "Yes, but why should we have to change for you? I think it is a "community standard" that people should be given more leeway for noise on a weekend."

Dude I like you, dont get me wrong, this is just a bit over the top is all ;P

Wait, wait, hold up, so how many times did Kate call the cops complain to the moderators?

Maybe you should find out a bit more background before you have a "gentle jab".

MORE LEWAY != a RIGHT to be as noisy as we want on weekends

no tech! (ex machina), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:11 (eighteen years ago) link

Maybe you should find out a bit more background before you have a "gentle jab".

ONCE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL I GOT HIT IN THE HEAD WITH SOMEONE'S GYM BAG AND THEY CALLED ME A "FAG". SO I BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THEM. EVERYONE SAW WHAT HAPPENED BUT REFUSED TO TELL THE HEAD NUN SO I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO GOT DETENTION.

no tech! (ex machina), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:12 (eighteen years ago) link

Why the fuck should I have to "find out a bit more background" on whomever I am being mean to? You guys clearly aren't

no tech! (ex machina), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:13 (eighteen years ago) link

OK ok, fair enough, I just think you should have a bit more understanding that some people really do find this kind of thing very stressful (I know I do). The car accident jab was a bit much, sorry, i was just trying to make a point.

(and on that note, Jim were you being sarky? I erm, hope so).

I don't think I should be forced to take someone's "fragile state of mind" into account when they act like a total asshole to me over a gentle jab.

You know what? You're absolutely right.

You shouldn't do it because you're forced into it, you should do it BECAUSE YOU'RE A FREAKING CONSIDERATE HUMAN BEING.

Sorry to burst into caps but, well, seems obvious.

Dudes -- chill.

Given that on more than a few occasions I've witnessed Kate lambasting Jon for weird and ridiculous shit, I think his response is pretty considerate and lighthearted through glib. And given that she recommend he drown in his own vomit as a walking abortion (which is like a 100 on my list of insensitive things to say) after he suggested she just shrug off an annoying nuisance (this is a 10 on my list of insensitive things to say), I don't see what he's done that's so wrong. Between wishing somebody violently dead and wishing somebody just 'get over' a real pestering situation is basically an order of magnitude in nastiness.

And given the history jon's had w. kate, it's understandable he presumed her attack was unmotivated in the way most of the others have been. But her state of mind's not the issue -- if she's gonna leap down his throat maybe she should think about avoiding ILE for a few days, where it's /quite/ likely she'll be offended?

Remy (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:14 (eighteen years ago) link

Well I know at the very least that Masonic Kate lives in London, therefore direct connection or not she probably deserves a little compassion...like anyone affected by last weeks tragedy.

Product of Australia / Kate (papa november), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:15 (eighteen years ago) link

Hmm.. And given that she recommend he drown in his own vomit as a walking abortion (which is like a 100 on my list of insensitive things to say) after he suggested she just shrug off an annoying nuisance

To be fair, to some people who are constantly kept awake night after night, threatened with violence by their neighbours if they go and complain, and are at their wits end, is a bit more than "a nuisance", Jer :)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Hi Jer!

Also, are you twits incapable of reading the part where I mentioned that I WAS COMPLETELY FUCKING UNAWARE THAT SHE WAS FRIENDS WITH LIZ.

Dicks.

xpost: eh, as soon as the abortion thing was said (which is waaaaay more unsensitive than anything I have ever posted to ILX) my "coddling" ability went out the window.

If, on the 17th of September 2001, I came down like a tonne of bricks on some American living in or near New York City or Washington DC, I doubt I wouldn't kicked off the entire forum.

Hotman Paris Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:18 (eighteen years ago) link

wouldn't be

Hotman Paris Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:18 (eighteen years ago) link

PS Trayce: Fair enough. But it's still an order of magnitude less than wishing somebody cruel and degrading death. And my whole response wasn't meant to sound as vicious as it might've.

Remy (x Jeremy), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 03:19 (eighteen years ago) link

Adam, seriously fuck off. Read the fucking context of anything I said to her. You smug little toad.

Jesus Christ!

Next time you're all kept awake by someone playing Mylo at 4am, call the fuckin' cops, repeatedly until they come and do something about it.

Jon, they're only going to get more hysterical so give it a rest before they really start throwing a fit.

Goddamn people, there's better expenditures of emotion at the moment!
