Or kill yourself, because you're making everybody else miserable.
sorry chachi but that made me laugh for the first time in 3 days. why don't you stick to making proclamations about yourself and let everyone else decide for themselves what they're feeling, ok?

Good job, Kenan.
― kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 19:28 (sixteen years ago) link
OK. is the following ironic? Maybe?
I could be on my way out of this hot miserable office right now if it weren't for the fact that I have to wait for the a/c guy to get done with what he's doing that may or may not fix it.
― Jesse, Monday, 8 October 2007 19:31 (sixteen years ago) link
Don't get depressed, K.
Guess who is getting forwarded mail for "Sara Lee Bakery"?? Yes, the answer is me, because my name is Sara Lee Bakery j@mmerman.

Argh, AT&T has to come out to my building to hook up DSL, since I no longer have a landline. They said they'd come any time between 8 and 5 on Thursday. I'm already calling in sick on Wednesday to wait for People's Energy, so I guess I am going to give them the number of my building's maintenance guy?
― jaymc, Monday, 8 October 2007 19:32 (sixteen years ago) link
Sarah. Come get your salad spinner.

Have any of the Deerhoof fans onthread heard Marnie Stern?
― dan m, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:00 (sixteen years ago) link
Yes. Didn't Nick put her on one of his quarterly mixes?
― KitCat, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:00 (sixteen years ago) link
Or did you mean live?
― KitCat, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:01 (sixteen years ago) link
Oh, I don't know if she was on a mix or not, a radio station friend recommended her over the weekend and I like what I've heard, is all.
― dan m, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:02 (sixteen years ago) link
I've only heard the song on Nick's mix, it's silly and I like it.
― Jordan, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:03 (sixteen years ago) link
i heard marnie stern recently....but like one track, and i think it got the diplo or girltalk treatment. still sounded badass, tho

sounds like they're getting the VIP treatment from the Mir@ge
oh man, I'm there. In spirit. What is it about me that loves casinos? I'm not a huge gambler or anything, and I don't feel like the kind of guy who says things like, "I love Vegas," but I do. Hmm.
― kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:19 (sixteen years ago) link
I watched Knocked Up this weekend, and the scene where they go see Cirque on mushrooms looked like the most fun any human has ever had.
― kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:20 (sixteen years ago) link
Gambling bothers me, but here are some happy memories of Vegas.
― KitCat, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:21 (sixteen years ago) link
Kenan, it's probably the liminality of windowless, clockless places where the rules are different from the everyday world - places like casinos, churches, and Clarks on Clark.
― Eazy, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:22 (sixteen years ago) link
RIP Clarks on Clark.
― kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:23 (sixteen years ago) link
I should have taken pix of my lovely Bell@gio room. Le sigh.
― KitCat, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:23 (sixteen years ago) link
Your Vegas pics are the best, Sarah. I'm glad you spent your time there outside.
The liminal state is characterized by ambiguity, openness, and indeterminacy. One's sense of identity dissolves to some extent, bringing about disorientation. Liminality is a period of transition where normal limits to thought, self-understanding, and behavior are relaxed - a situation which can lead to new perspectives.
― Eazy, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:24 (sixteen years ago) link
But yeah, you're right about the rules. You can sit at the bar in a casino at four in the morning, fucked off your ass, talking to a total stranger, having the most nonsensical bullshit conversation you have ever had, and that is totally acceptable behavior. Hell, it's encouraged.

The higher ups in my company go to Vegas on weekends alot for funsies. The owner has a private jet. We also have a project in Vegas, which is just an excuse for them to go there more often.
― KitCat, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:34 (sixteen years ago) link
I think I'll be fine never going to Vegas.
― Jordan, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:35 (sixteen years ago) link
Me too, but if work was going to send me there I think I'd go along with it.
― dan m, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:36 (sixteen years ago) link
Sarah, would they let you tag along for a weekend if you and Nick just hitched a ride and then did your own thing for the weekend?
― Eazy, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:36 (sixteen years ago) link
I would love to go to Vegas. I have been saying this for years.
― jaymc, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:42 (sixteen years ago) link
I doubt it. They did pay for that (flickr) trip above, but I don't know if I'd like Vegas without someone else's money behind me. I was inspired hearing about your visit to the outer areas though.
― KitCat, Monday, 8 October 2007 20:42 (sixteen years ago) link
There are some fantastic hotel deals there in the off-seasons (October, Jan-March). Especially without gambling it could be an affordable weekend.

Yeah, if you don't have gambling problem tendencies, just budget a couple hundred or so for the blackjack table and then walk away when you're done. And get free drinks in the meantime. And then go see Elton John or some wacky shit like that.
