"It was arousing... violently arousing.
Otis, did you even read the book?
Yes... no."

The accuracy of the statement "tight little body" is irrelevant in light of the fact that it is something said only by male undergrads with gel in their hair and diagonal stripes on their opalescent, Polo Sport-drenched shirts.

Oh, alright. Here - She's pretty fit, and I don't doubt that some might find her to be physically attractive. I just happen to think that she's pretty repulsive!

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 20 February 2008 05:37 (eighteen years ago)

only line I remember from K&S is "I'd like to fuck the Dickens out of her."

still can't believe the Trans Am-looking dude from Almost Famous dumped MLP for Claire Danes.

milo z, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 05:59 (eighteen years ago)

SJP is an ordinary-looking girl whose disembody is too average for me to have ever thought about one way or the other but who is ultimately attractive because she is often delightful, apart from her starring in that acronymic show. she is disliked by people who dislike pointy noses and/or low BMIs.

MLP is an even more ordinary-looking girl, if with a somewhat more interesting disembody, whose lazy-charming characters/personality render her cuet or even hott in a lazy-charming sort of way. I can see how she'd fly in the South and/or among indie dudes. Claire Danes is far more distinctive.

LL, non-bronze-age, is an at least moderately super-ordinary looking girl (particularly in that... one area, though the disproportionality is less attractive - it would be nice if she had any hips), not least because of the non-platinum hair and skin tone and freckles (the first two of which are kinda my thing), who has shown some attractive signs of smarts, sensitivity and self-directed-ness, but over time may have more often shown unattractive signs of superficiality, stubbornness and stupidity. It may help that she kinda resembles someone I've been involved with.

gabbneb, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 07:11 (eighteen years ago)

and a smart New Yorker etc. etc.

gabbneb, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 07:14 (eighteen years ago)

She's got a LOT of running to do to get away from being Carrie Bradshaw.

Like, Forrest Gump levels.

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 20 February 2008 16:49 (eighteen years ago)

Agree w/ Gabbneb. SJP's cuteness ain't in her face (obviously). It's in her personality. She comes across as not hot, but at least charming when she's actually doing something: performing, acting, whatever you call that kind of sitcom behavior. In still pictures, she looks like something you'd use to split wood.

contenderizer, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 16:56 (eighteen years ago)

"ordinary"

Kerm, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

not to play the ageism card, but I kinda feel bad for SJP getting beat up on for her looks when her biggest role (in a show that had the word SEX in the title which I guess leads to expectations of sexiness more than usual) came when she was hurtling toward 40. she was kind of an ugly duckling circa Square Pegs and became genuinely cute during her L.A. Story/Honeymoon In Vegar romcom era, but by the time her fame peaked in a fashion plate role, it was pretty clear that she has the kind of features that do not age well. not every actress is gonna peak in hotness at 45.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:25 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, but I have always hated her face.

roxymuzak, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:25 (eighteen years ago)

i thought SJP was cute in L.A. Story. i think she'd be cuter now if she gained 20 pounds.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

^^ ya her skinniness only emphasizes her immense head

max, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

It is like they broke the mold after making Candice Bergen, but then went ahead and used it again.

roxymuzak, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:29 (eighteen years ago)

Hi thanks rox for reading my mind but better. That phrase is disgusting.

Laurel, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

Also it owes so so much and is way to close to "tight little pussy" which is just ew. God, ew. EW I SAY.

Laurel, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

the first time my mom met my girlfriend she called her a "tightbody" and my mom does not drench her shirts in polo sport

Recourse to mom absolves nothing. Still ew.

contenderizer, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:40 (eighteen years ago)

max did your mom give you a high five?

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:41 (eighteen years ago)

no i think it was actually sort of a pejorative?

max, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

i don't think tight little body is that gross. it's just a fucking expression, geez.

omar little, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:52 (eighteen years ago)

It's pretty disgusting. I think mainly because, like Roxy said, only complete assholes would actually use that phrase in speech.

ENBB, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:52 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, exactly. xpost.

ENBB, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 17:52 (eighteen years ago)

i mean, i get why it's gross, but some bodies are tight and little.

would "taut petite body" be better?

Surmounter, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:00 (eighteen years ago)

that phrase gets all porn results in Google, too.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

oh my god the lohan freckles. SO GREAT.

sunny successor, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:03 (eighteen years ago)

Let's just say that praising women's bodies for being small and scant and hard is probably not a good way to start out. It's kind of like saying she's desirable because there's SO LITTLE of her to start with! "Hardly takes up any room in the storage closet and eats almost no groceries. The apartment-dweller's ideal."

Laurel, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

"big doughy body"

Eazy, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

"good for fuck... and storage!"

jhøshea, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:06 (eighteen years ago)

"that woman looks terrible"
"yes, and such small portions..."

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:06 (eighteen years ago)

Laurel - exactly.

ENBB, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

Eazy, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:08 (eighteen years ago)

Haha.

I'm not sure the attraction to smallness or litheness has anything to do with desiring a woman to be invisible or hassle-free or anything like that, though. I think it's just a common sexual aesthetic created and propagated by images in the media.

jaymc, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:09 (eighteen years ago)

it might be just cause its hawt tho

jhøshea, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:09 (eighteen years ago)

Good Christ, people. Everybody relax and just admit that SJP could use (a) a few pounds and (b) a nose job.

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not saying this as some kind of pro-fat thing nor am I criticizing liking "little" women...whether little means short or petite or thin or whatever! But the gestalt idea that a woman is better if there's less of her in all directions kind of denies her the right to a physical self. It's...probably just better to avoid phrasing things that way.

Laurel, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:17 (eighteen years ago)

xp give me those almond truffles right now.

Laurel, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:19 (eighteen years ago)

Laurel, you and I could not agree more. The day that I actually use the phrse "tight little body" and mean it will be the day that my wife smacks me in the back of the head with her Smith College diploma.

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:22 (eighteen years ago)

Oh good. :)

Laurel, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:24 (eighteen years ago)

ts: tight little body vs. loose booty
