I wanted God's models to be kicked off - they were last becuase of their vanity - they don't deserve to continue. I would have liked to see COlin coerce Christie into getting her head shaved though.

India really gets people every time. Every year on the Amazing race! They won't be winning an award from the Indian Tourist Board anytime soon.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 12:20 (nineteen years ago) link

AND SO IT IS WRITTEN, GOD WANTS YOU TO CONTINUE RACING AND TO HAVE HAIR!

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 12:22 (nineteen years ago) link

I can't wait until next wek when Christie starts yelling back at Colin.

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 12:28 (nineteen years ago) link

I liked the part where Nicole started freaking out because people were grabbing her on the bus (or was it a train?) and Brandon started praying for the Lord to help her.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 13:12 (nineteen years ago) link

I am never going to get on a train in India. Unless I'm wearing armour.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 13:29 (nineteen years ago) link

"Lord, please remove that man's hands from my girlfriend's posterior."

Brandon (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 13:31 (nineteen years ago) link

Colin had the right idea: "Oh, I'm gonna BUST that ass."

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 13:33 (nineteen years ago) link

I think the Bowling Moms are weird because they have absolutely nothing going for them (they are slow, dim, and not particularly lucky), but they still manage to not lose every week.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 13:34 (nineteen years ago) link

I think the next leg of the race should include a dance off.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 13:56 (nineteen years ago) link

I found new respect for the brunette Bowling Mom, who's barely said a word all season for finally saying that her buddy is a whingy bitch!

Huck, Wednesday, 1 September 2004 14:04 (nineteen years ago) link

I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of Colin freak-outs last night, though when he snapped at Christie at the brick factory it was pretty funny. The tasks last night all seemed pretty easy, there weren't any really scary or gross ones. I could've handled all that shit pretty easily. Chip & Kim are still my heros. I feel sorry for the male Bible model because he actually seems like a nice (though doofusy) guy who's willing to try some new things and then his annoying girlfriend freaks out about anything different or slightly scary. Classic "I hate Americans" moment last night: when female Bible model is talking about the large number of mosques in Dubai and says "They're on every corner, they're like 7-11's around here."

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 14:11 (nineteen years ago) link

She actually called them Starbucks.

My faves are Chip and Kim, too, but I can't really agree with their strategy of boosting Colin so he gets cocky and makes mistakes. The way to get those guys to mess up is to doubt their authority so they have to act more manly and aggressive.

How bout when Colin said how nice Calcutta was and Christie got mad at him for making fun of the place?

Maria D. (Maria D.), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 14:12 (nineteen years ago) link

OH YEAH. I was like, "Bitch, have you EVER counted the number of churches in an American town/suburb/city?" Growing up, there were FIFTEEN in my home town (pop. at the time: 12,000) often within blocks of each other.

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 14:14 (nineteen years ago) link

When they were walking away from the Fast Forward and talking about how the guy's a model and all that, I said out loud, "What does model, surgical supplies?"
The whole room busted up laughing.

Huck, Wednesday, 1 September 2004 14:14 (nineteen years ago) link

(I was alone)

Huck, Wednesday, 1 September 2004 14:19 (nineteen years ago) link

With your thoughts?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 14:34 (nineteen years ago) link

Even they've gone back to mother.

Huck, Wednesday, 1 September 2004 14:39 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't think I could have gotten my head shaved either. I'm a big wuss. But I actually would have been kind of sad if they cut the model guy's hair. It's puuuuuuurrrrttttteeeeee.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 15:04 (nineteen years ago) link

i really wanted to see the premiere of real world philly (cuz i lived in philly for 15 years) but i was loyal to the race. except i think this is the one episode i could have missed! not very exciting. seeya twinz, and all that. but overall, no shockers.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:36 (nineteen years ago) link

The twins got booted??? YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!!!! (I was loyal to The Real World and I have to say that the casting curveball this year is FANTASTIC.)

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:38 (nineteen years ago) link

Scott, they rerun the real worlds 80,000,000 times so I'm sure you can catch it this weekend.

I can't believe what a wuss Brandon/Anakin is.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:40 (nineteen years ago) link

the casting curveball this year is FANTASTIC

Details?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:41 (nineteen years ago) link

Don't tell me! I was at the airport, getting depressed last night, but I taped it and won't get the chance to watch it until maybe tomorrow. So everybody just remember what you're going to say and come back on Friday. Okay? Or I'll just exercise some self-control and wait to read this thread again until I've seen the damn episode.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:42 (nineteen years ago) link

You are right about the repeats of course. They get so much mileage out of those shows. I don't complain when it's real world hawaii cuz i could watch that one every day forever. We Love You Ruthie!!!!

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:47 (nineteen years ago) link

Brandakin

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:48 (nineteen years ago) link

Sorry Huck...

Yeah, it was a little boring compared to other episodes, especially because Colin was all happy and didn't freak out once and even APOLOGIZED to Christie OMG WTF LOL. Brandon is a wuss. I can't believe anyone was dumb enough to do the mud thing rather than the whitewater thing, didn't they remember the scarab fiasco? Even though the twins getting kicked off fucks up my predictions from the other week, I'm glad they were the ones to go rather than Chip & Kim. GO CHIP AND KIM!!!

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:50 (nineteen years ago) link

Brandon has Guarini hair.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:50 (nineteen years ago) link

Really, the sledging part seemed like so much fun! Even the Moms went for it, even though they were pretty scared.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:51 (nineteen years ago) link

xpostx3

My hatred for Colin dissipated a little when he admitted he was wrong and said how impressed he was by Christie.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah, I am a total wuss and I would have done the sledging. It looked great!

Colin is still a coque.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:52 (nineteen years ago) link

*makes various notes* Now Spencer and I must keep planning.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Ned, always choose the ones that are fast and scary vs. slow and not scary.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:54 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't know, the one where they parachuted out of the plane didn't really pay off against the people driving in the desert - they all seemed to finish about the same time.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:55 (nineteen years ago) link

True. But usually it works out. Except when you bust up your knee like the dad did early on.

I'm convinced that what matters most in the race is how fast your cab driver turns out to be. It's a matter of luck.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:56 (nineteen years ago) link

Also: everyone always catches up at the airport.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 14:57 (nineteen years ago) link

And people catch up at tourist attractions that don't open until 9 a.m.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 15:10 (nineteen years ago) link

So basically, as long as you're not last and kicked off, you've got a good chance of catching up at the beginning of the next day.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 15:12 (nineteen years ago) link

Didn't Nicole look like she was willing/looking forward to sledging, but then Brandon busted out his "protective father" excuse?

The Colin Front did produce one tidbit: when he dove in for the whitewater challenge, his sledge was perpendicular to the water and he landed on top of it.

EAT SLEDGE COLIN.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 18:32 (nineteen years ago) link

Yes, Brandon always passes off his wussiness as "protectiveness."

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 18:34 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm still relishing "I'm PACKIN' IT!" from last week.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 19:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Anyone else think that people exiting the Zorb balls looked like giant babies being born? Complete with amniotic fluids.

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 20:41 (nineteen years ago) link

I was just imagining what would happen if you threw up in there.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 20:44 (nineteen years ago) link

nickn -- YES.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 20:45 (nineteen years ago) link

did you see the scenes from next week where colin whimpers "i hate you" to the long-suffering stepford girlfriend?

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 20:48 (nineteen years ago) link

I didn't see that but I CAN'T WAIT NOW.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 20:48 (nineteen years ago) link

it's over the top. that dude is ted bundy.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 20:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Question: when a flight is sold out, and only a few teams make it onboard, they still toss in a few camera shots of the lucky few chilling in the cabin. So, if the flights are sold out, and no one else can get a ticket, how does the cameraman get onboard?

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 21:13 (nineteen years ago) link

The theory i have heard is that the show actually buys up the tickets except for 2 or 4 or whatever for the team members.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 22:13 (nineteen years ago) link

Wait, the show buys up what tickets? All the tickets on each plane? All the available tickets?

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 22:20 (nineteen years ago) link
