Pretty good episode. Eisenberg was good.

Yeah, he was. Consider me surprised.

I kind of passed out right after Weekend Update but I enjoyed what I saw.
― Indolence Mission (DJP), Sunday, 30 January 2011 14:03 (fifteen years ago)
didn't know there was any doubt that that's all he can do.
You do know Eisenberg was a stage actor previously, Mr Casting Director?

"oh I saw this guy play neurotic teens/collegians in 3 movies, must be all he can do"

this was kind of awesome. the rest of it was eh.
― tehresa, Sunday, 30 January 2011 16:20 (fifteen years ago)
are people supposed to a) have seen the pre-fame plays a movie star was in, b) know what kind or roles he did onstage or c) simply respect that he has 'stage actor' experience and that he thus should not be underestimated?
― some dude, Sunday, 30 January 2011 16:31 (fifteen years ago)
people aren't supposed to do anything. "didn't know there was any doubt that that's all he can do" is just crazy-assumptive.

Zuck appearance in SNL tradition of stunts > comedy
― kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 30 January 2011 17:54 (fifteen years ago)
Agreed that it didn't really add anything.
― Pleasant Plains, Sunday, 30 January 2011 17:59 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, I didn't see it funny as much as historical and fun.
― An Artily Shot Sesame Street (Eazy), Sunday, 30 January 2011 18:00 (fifteen years ago)
What was the first instance where they put an SNL cast member in character up against the figure in real life on the same screen?
Schwarzeneggar and Hans & Frans comes close, though they weren't really impersonating him.
― Pleasant Plains, Sunday, 30 January 2011 18:04 (fifteen years ago)
But anyway, it's gotten old.
― Pleasant Plains, Sunday, 30 January 2011 18:05 (fifteen years ago)
In my reality, it was Mifune/Belushi.

The funniest one so far was Janet Reno literally crashing "The Janet Reno Dance Party" the weekend after her administration ended.

My favorite of these was when Al Sharpton was hosting and Kenan came out as Al Sharpton circa 1980s, with the purple tracksuit and full-on James Brown hair, calling his current incarnation a sellout and accusing him of not even being able to dance anymore - then they had a dance-off. It was great. Not on Hulu, sadly.

xp Belushi and Joe trying to out-Cocker each other on 'Feelin Alright'
― Mangrove Earthshoe (herb albert), Sunday, 30 January 2011 19:22 (fifteen years ago)
I always like it when the celebrity shows up. The one where DeNiro and Pesci show up and threaten Jim Breur and whomever with bats was good.
And the more recent Walken family skit was pretty good, especially Amy Poehler.
― dan selzer, Sunday, 30 January 2011 19:33 (fifteen years ago)
yeeees, Belushi-Cocker, when the show mattered

psshhh, I love early SNL, but the show has never "mattered." Of all the people to swaddle themselves in nostalgia, Morbs, really...

Old man me kinda thought it "mattered" during those Belushi - Cocker years that Morbs mentioned. Now you darn kids get off of my lawn.

If Lorne Michaels had gotten his way, Jennifer Aniston would have spent the nineties on a very different long-running NBC comedy. Aniston and her Just Go With It co-star Adam Sandler appeared on Oprah yesterday, and Sandler revealed that he had pushed a pre-fame Aniston to join the cast of Saturday Night Live, and even got her a meeting with Michaels. "I had this show Friends coming up," Aniston said, explaining her decision to reject the SNL offer. "They thought I was making a huge mistake." Hopefully Michaels didn't hold a grudge, though Aniston was the fifth Friends cast member eventually asked to host the show. (Yup, they even went to David Schwimmer first.)

was this funny? I dv-red it. although carvey was far from my favorite snl cast member, I personally really like and respect him so I hope it went well.
