― jergïns, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:05 (sixteen years ago) link
Portland seems like somewhere I would move if I was some kind of freelancer or worked from home. It's the dream, I suppose.
― admrl, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:06 (sixteen years ago) link
yup^^^^
― Mr. Que, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:06 (sixteen years ago) link

― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:09 (sixteen years ago) link

― jergïns, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:11 (sixteen years ago) link
There are jobs here. Post yer resume on craigslist and you will get decent responses(how i've found at least 3 jobs here).
I really enjoy it here. I'm very happy I got the fuck out of michigan and made it out here.
We still need to see Blade Runner. I'm trying to drag people along with me tonight or tomorrow.
― kingfish, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:13 (sixteen years ago) link
I like the gays there and in Seattle, I wonder if they wd like me
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:14 (sixteen years ago) link
Also, this isn't exactly a non-drinking town. Beer & wine is everywhere, and this is good.
― kingfish, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:14 (sixteen years ago) link
I just really like the weather, which means I should probably move back to London.
Also food, beer, coffee, thrift stores.
― admrl, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:15 (sixteen years ago) link
xp!
yeah the bars in Portland are awesome! and plentiful
― Mr. Que, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:15 (sixteen years ago) link
The $3 beer theaters should be a national treasure. That's how we got to see They Live last month.
At least one of them is reportedly haunted.

― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:44 (sixteen years ago) link
(I have t-shirt and went to Dogs in the Park day)
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:45 (sixteen years ago) link
if we move to portland, we'll just start our own sports franchise/brisket shack.
― Mr. Que, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:45 (sixteen years ago) link
love the location of the baseball stadium but dunno about the inside. it's PCL, right?
― jergïns, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:46 (sixteen years ago) link
yep. It's grungy but acceptable.
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:48 (sixteen years ago) link
I like it and haven't even met any other artists yet/still/really.
― Kerm, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 18:52 (sixteen years ago) link
does the portland sky feature visible stars at night? cause that would take some getting used to
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 19:03 (sixteen years ago) link
Yes.
The baseball stadium is affable.
I am hopefully leaving for grad school next year. It is not as awesome here as it used to be, perhaps, but it is still better than many places.
The art museum does indeed suck.
― Casuistry, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:51 (sixteen years ago) link
what about the nat hist mus?
― gabbneb, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:58 (sixteen years ago) link

― gabbneb, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:06 (sixteen years ago) link
staying downtown vs staying in nw
― gabbneb, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:07 (sixteen years ago) link
why is portland not as nice as it used to be? what happened? global warming? or republicans?
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:10 (sixteen years ago) link
a little more expensive, a little more 'place of the moment'? (i lived there 97-00 and would like to pretend i still know the city well but only get down there 3-4 times a year. maybe kingfish and causistry should tell me to shut up if i'm way off the mark)
― jergïns, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:19 (sixteen years ago) link
staying downtown beats staying in NW. screw both of them, actually, and stay on the eastside.
i've only been here for 3 years, so i'm too recent to notice any change in quality, but Alberta St by where I live is rapidly gentrifying(corrugated tin exteriors EVERYWHERE).
― kingfish, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:22 (sixteen years ago) link
We've been having a nice fall, for the most part. Nice & sunny a lot more than i expected.
― kingfish, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:27 (sixteen years ago) link
Another fun thing about portland, which i probably have mentioned a few times: pinball is still viable here.
― kingfish, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:28 (sixteen years ago) link
corrugated tin exteriors
such a portland affectation. i totally notice it whenever i come down. how the hell are those going to look in 10 years?
(Seattle's is still worse though i think: 2 floors of brick and then cheap wooden slatting. it looks ok at street level but up? yeech)
― jergïns, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:29 (sixteen years ago) link
whoa you guys have like a beer festival every two months. whoa awesome.
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:29 (sixteen years ago) link
I am also moving away from Portland in the next few months. It's kind of a dumb place unless you are like 22 and into your friend's "art" as a way of life, or unless you are 35 and settled and into your dogs as a way of life.
― Clay, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:35 (sixteen years ago) link
Portland's love of dogs is one of the great things about here.
― kingfish, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 22:47 (sixteen years ago) link
Yeah, absolutely. But I don't have one.
