The original comp. was like, what, 60 mins? So you could do a Deluxe Special Edition with 17 extra tracks!

listening to the comp again right now! "card declined" might be might be my favorite song that mentions sriracha sauce.

mary quantized (get bent), Wednesday, 16 February 2011 20:47 (thirteen years ago) link

mary quantized (get bent), Wednesday, 16 February 2011 20:54 (thirteen years ago) link

feel a deep sense of personal satisfaction at rhyming "sriracha sauce" and "tube top off", you can put that on my gravestone

here are card declined lyrics

daymare nation, terminal station
total nihilation, noise divination
hit the black lights and I spring into action
everything's moving in a circular fashion

disco balls, hotel bloedel
no need to wash a taint cuz my shit don't smell
hit bong rips while yr sister trips
we're smokin pixie sticks with a pair of roach clips

(I'm a hot and bothered astronaut) eatin corn dogs
with sriracha sauce, get yr tube top off
bass mutilation, prognostication
trash gets off on zombie penetration

here is the church, here is the steeple
open up the doors (I see dead people)
flunked science but one thing I know
mix ben-gay with K-Y, you could make a hormone

never got along with my coaches
like upson pratt hates roaches
when I shine I shine like a fly in yr wine
yr card was declined, PVD divine
(doggone girl is mine)

After all this time I only just now found the song I'd wanted to submit ;_;

Oh well!

Trayce, Thursday, 17 February 2011 02:58 (thirteen years ago) link

Trayce, we can totally put it on the Deluxe Edition.

plax (ico ico) (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 17 February 2011 02:58 (thirteen years ago) link

Trayce, Thursday, 17 February 2011 03:02 (thirteen years ago) link

eleven months pass...

ooh, what's the next comp gonna be?

textile in thighville (get bent), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 22:21 (twelve years ago) link

There was talk of a protest music comp while we were on the sandbox? I got as far as recording an instrumental which emil.y was going to do some reciting of Marxist texts for, but then we just stopped, I don't think I've even listened to it since last year?

We'll probably end up doing a different them, anyway, I'm guessing.

White Chocolate Cheesecake, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 22:34 (twelve years ago) link

i like the protest music idea!

textile in thighville (get bent), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 22:38 (twelve years ago) link

oh i forgot about that one. there should be a thread for it that can be revived.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 22:40 (twelve years ago) link

i'm bad at finding these things... if something turns up, please post it.

textile in thighville (get bent), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 22:42 (twelve years ago) link

Hmm, that could work...

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 22:42 (twelve years ago) link

i don't see it, maybe the discussion was part of a bigger thread

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 22:48 (twelve years ago) link

The thread was on the Sandbox!

White Chocolate Cheesecake, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 22:49 (twelve years ago) link

i could have sworn the conversation was older than that but you could be right.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 22:50 (twelve years ago) link

can someone produce said sandbox thread? i can't find it.

textile in thighville (get bent), Thursday, 9 February 2012 03:04 (twelve years ago) link

Oops, sorry WCC - I had a rotten cold and was generally feeling blue so never got around to it, but I must confess it just slipped my mind over the last couple of weeks. I will get on it soon - I think either tomorrow or Monday (recording on my birthday!) are good days, so at least by early next week.

emil.y, Thursday, 9 February 2012 03:23 (twelve years ago) link

an instrumental which emil.y was going to do some reciting of Marxist texts for

<3

mookieproof, Thursday, 9 February 2012 03:25 (twelve years ago) link

I could do one next week!

Mark G, Thursday, 9 February 2012 07:43 (twelve years ago) link

Nah, I knew you were poorly, emil.y so I didn't want to hassle you, and also there was no rush as no one else showed any sign of moving. When you get a chance!

White Chocolate Cheesecake, Thursday, 9 February 2012 13:16 (twelve years ago) link

one month passes...

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y161/MarkGrout/SAM_0055.jpg

Finally got round to 'making' these!

Mark G, Tuesday, 3 April 2012 09:23 (twelve years ago) link

one year passes...

has there been any more comps? i couldn't find any threads further than this one.

i'd like to be involved if there's any!

Reminded you of the glory days did I

VENIET IMBER (imago), Monday, 6 January 2014 13:48 (ten years ago) link

... and there weren't too many contributors to the Xmas one. I'm generally up for any sort of comp. but I must confess I have no idea what these pre-cover comps are and don't pay them any attention tbh.

Eats like Elvis, shits like De Niro (Tom D.), Monday, 6 January 2014 13:53 (ten years ago) link

I was bummed I missed the Xmas one. saw it pop up on sc. I don't read ILM so I can often miss these!

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Monday, 6 January 2014 14:05 (ten years ago) link

oh man damn same trayce. i wish there's some way to be notified but i suppose it's the point that i should be more an active member and part of the community and all that..

pre-cover sounds kind of fun it's to take the title alone and write a song based on that, right?

^ sarcasm (ken c), Monday, 6 January 2014 14:26 (ten years ago) link

Aw, I wish I had known about the tiny music one, I used to fool around with some short songs.

xp re pre-covers: yes

time is a train that make the future flag post (snoball), Monday, 6 January 2014 14:33 (ten years ago) link

Having said that, it would be nice if the next compilation album was a 'regular' one where people submitted whatever track they wanted.

time is a train that make the future flag post (snoball), Monday, 6 January 2014 14:35 (ten years ago) link

Hey, nobody's stopping anyone from doing a new all original one. What I might suggest, though, is a post here AND ILM, or a post on one board linking to the thread on the other.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 6 January 2014 15:21 (ten years ago) link

be sure to make a thread on I Love AFL too.

Mmm yes hello (crüt), Monday, 6 January 2014 15:25 (ten years ago) link

i love Albums with Frivolous Lyrics

^ sarcasm (ken c), Monday, 6 January 2014 16:18 (ten years ago) link

all original one sounds good but should there be a theme?

^ sarcasm (ken c), Monday, 6 January 2014 16:18 (ten years ago) link

or properly freestyle anything goes?

^ sarcasm (ken c), Monday, 6 January 2014 16:19 (ten years ago) link

Completely freestyle would encourage more people to get involved, I think.

time is a train that make the future flag post (snoball), Monday, 6 January 2014 18:18 (ten years ago) link

let's give it a try!

what compilation number would this be now?

^ sarcasm (ken c), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 09:38 (ten years ago) link

be sure to make a thread on I Love AFL too.

― Mmm yes hello (crüt), Monday, January 6, 2014 7:25 AM (Yesterday)

haha. am totally down to contribute

sarahell, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 10:01 (ten years ago) link

xp The U2 pre-cover came between comps 3 and 4, so pre-covers don't increase the volume number (comp 5 followed the precover 'pick a track title' idea but the original album was from the 70s). So a future comp would be volume 6?

What I might suggest, though, is a post here AND ILM, or a post on one board linking to the thread on the other.

Sage advice from Ned as always. Main thread on ILE and a locked thread on ILM with just a link to the main thread?
