Carla's quest for tablecloths was an impossibly dumb decision.

xpost I've been liking Angelo more as well. Helps not to have another bit about Russian mail order brides.
I've noticed Dale has been getting the douche edit lately.

even the editors themselves showed utterly no desire to integrate the random designer associated w/ target into the show

I had a dream that Blaise and his wife were at some function I was at and I felt awkward pretending I liked him and didn't refer to him as Tintin behind his back. also both of them were kind of orange skinned and both had that weird Dr. Seuss-ish haircut that he has.

I think that exact line was used in a recent review of the movie The Eagle, maybe in the New Yorker?

no one ever makes Indian food on this show, do they? I guess there have been a samosa or two...

i know i just wanted to shake her. because i love her.
think i am developing a crush on richard blaise; not sure how i feel about it.
kevin made indian food last season i want to say but i believe he was specifically assigned to do so for a challenge.

Is this maybe a time limit thing?

^^^yeah that's what I was thinking. it takes a while to make a decent curry from scratch. and then I guess there's the issue of ingredients (I don't shop at Whole Foods, have no idea if you can find Indian stuff there - ghee, garam masala, etc.)
― ice cr?m's world of female people (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 22 February 2011 18:19 (thirteen years ago) link
otoh you'd think someone would try to suck up to Padme by making some goofy "deconstructed" indian dish or something
She's so picky though! She hated Mike's things on principle for not having fresh coconut.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 22 February 2011 18:26 (thirteen years ago) link
He did say it was a fresh coconut flavor first though!

Yeah, she wasn't hating his stuff, just calling him on hyperbolic bullshit.
I still want to see a slow-food challenge. Probably will never happen though.

Didn't she say "I can only eat one bite." That seems pretty hating on to me.

Why, for being criminally sexy? xp
Oh, I forgot that was the same dish. Yeah, that was pretty hatey.

re: elimination. pretty big upset imo.
also when I saw last week's trailer I figured the plagiarism angle would be some trumped up BS but no, Mike actually pretty much stole Richard's dish. bad chef karma dude.
― dmr, Thursday, 24 February 2011 04:46 (thirteen years ago) link
Mike Isabella, that was serious, serious fail in the quickfire, bad bad form there...and I was really liking him a lot this season, the big jerk...glad Richard got a bit of vindication at the end. And the fact that he stole the dish, admitted it, and still acted like a total cock to Richard anyway. The big jerk.
sad elimination. I mean, it was the right move but still...
also big lols at Antonia's "I'll take Spike and his crabs"

I've been rooting for Dale. He's such a good chef and he has kept his emotions in check this time around. More sorry to see him go than Angelo. It's nice to read that Dale thinks that Mike wasn't a complete recipe stealer. Mike's not my favorite but he makes for good tv (irl troll). But I can't read that whole article: tlcria
Blais seems a little too on edge for me to root for him. But gourmet burgers and hot dogs sound good. I would like to try his restaurant(s?). Maybe just for dessert. I loved how he plans on taking Fabio on his reward vacation. I wouldn't be sad if he won
Hooty Hoo - How can you not lover her? She's a great chef
Antonio - I'm surprised at how good she is doing in every single challenge. She's made me a fan
Tiffany and Mike please go home so that we can have the other three in the final. No offense
― CaptainLorax, Thursday, 24 February 2011 18:05 (thirteen years ago) link
A pretty great episode marred by an inane and irrelevant quickfire. Five chefs trying to make the least worst dish using the food from a ferry snack bar. Fucking gross.
Next week should be interesting: The chefs go up against the respective winners of their season. Which poor bastard has to go up against Voltaggio?
― righteousmaelstrom, Thursday, 3 March 2011 15:18 (thirteen years ago) link
I knew they'd have all of them. ESPECIALLY after they punk'd Richard like that, which was totally brutal but he kinda deserved it. It's interesting that while they didn't want to choose and thought everyone killed it, they still showed a clear hierarchy.
― dan selzer, Thursday, 3 March 2011 15:24 (thirteen years ago) link
You're right about the hierarchy. If someone had to go, it probably would have been Carla.
It's Isabella against Voltaggio next week. Poor Mikey.

Most of the season I've been hoping it would come down to Blais and Carla, but now I'm rooting for Antonia to win it. She got the combo of good taste and judgment, top skills, unbreakable calm under presssure and winning personality.

seems like the "EVERYBODY GOES TO THE BAHAMAS" thing is just a punt cuz i will be shocked if they don't can tiffany and mike in the next episode anyway.Carla, Antonia and BLAZE seem sorta de facto to me since they dumped Dale in the annual SHOCKERS A MAJOR PLAYER HAS BEEN DEFEATED end-of-mid-season tradition
