I'd like to see Liverpool matched with some permutation of (A) violent cloggers who will injure some key members of their vast squad and (B) classy outfits who can stroll to a 0-2 at Anfield. (A) and (B) may semipeacefully coexist within the same club, of course. In which case, three of those, Mr Uefa.

But this season's competition is really all about THUN. I mean, do you hate THUN? No, nobody hates THUN.

That, and tactics apparently consisting of trying to scrape a 0-0, with nine outfield players around own box at all times. A pretty sight we were not. Immensely frustrating, though to be fair it has worked away in Europe before.

Well, here begins another year of pointlessly misplaced hopes - I predict another decent win-draw start then a slow, sure, almost imperceptible collapse until a required 2-0 result at home in the final match becomes a torrid 1-1 draw. It's just what we do.

I'm glad you can remember that far back!

They were making a stupidly big deal on the Radio Clyde phone-in about how Rangers got the last two teams to end Celtic's involvement in Europe (apart from Villarreal). The pundit then suggested that Alex McLeish could ask Gordon Strachan what to expect from them and how to deal with them. I missed the rest through trying to repair my rapidly-splitting sides. FWIW, I fully expect Rangers to gub them about ten-nil and then laugh at Celtic for the rest of all time.
