As long as Target Lady lives on, I'm happy.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 17:23 (thirteen years ago) link
I miss Gilly already ;_;
― Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Tuesday, 3 May 2011 17:24 (thirteen years ago) link
Yeah, I'd only recently come around on Gilly, so now I'm a little sad there will be no more sketches.
Penelope, good riddance.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 17:27 (thirteen years ago) link
I'm prob in the minority, but Penelope and Gilly were actually two of my fave Wiig characters. Target Lady not so much.
― Hardcore Bangage (Dan Peterson), Tuesday, 3 May 2011 17:27 (thirteen years ago) link
maybe we should just have this convo on this thread to avoid everyone repeating their preferences: worst recurring Kristen Wiig character on SNL
― some dude, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 17:28 (thirteen years ago) link
work on the tweet is that Madonna and Gaga were filming some video together, possibly for SNL.
― Gukbe, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 17:57 (thirteen years ago) link
This is the list of the last 3 eps this year, with Gaga being the musical performer on the finale. SNL usually goes big to end a season, so a Madonna cameo thing wouldn't surprise me (especially with Justin being there too).
May 7, 2011 Tina Fey/Ellie Goulding (36.20, live) [13][14]May 14, 2011 Ed Helms/Paul Simon (36.21, live)[14]May 21, 2011 Justin Timberlake/Lady Gaga (36.22, live) [15]
(Ellie Goulding seems like a stretch for a US audience, amirite?)
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:01 (thirteen years ago) link
they made us watch Fleet Foxes, I wouldn't put anything past them at this point
― Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:10 (thirteen years ago) link
so was that leggy "price tag" woman with the huge mouth. the music industry is cRaZy!!
― goole, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:12 (thirteen years ago) link
After watching that performance, I was convinced Jessie J was going to be HUGE in the U.S.! Oh well.
― jaymc, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:20 (thirteen years ago) link
Jessie J at least has some radio presence here, though. Ellie Goulding is a blog star, and a UK blog star at that.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:20 (thirteen years ago) link
Lykke Li might've been a good idea. "I Follow Rivers" was even briefly on Glee.
― jaymc, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:23 (thirteen years ago) link
I would've signed on for that 100%. She's awesome in performance.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:23 (thirteen years ago) link
Also -- does this thread load mega-slowly for everyone, or just me?
― jaymc, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:24 (thirteen years ago) link
SNL did kind of break Adele in the US, though, so who knows what will happen. Tina Fey's a good lure to get people watching a particular episode.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:24 (thirteen years ago) link
Phoenix were also on a good 3 months before Wolfgang came out.
― Gukbe, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:35 (thirteen years ago) link
Huh, I didn't realize that the performance antedated the album release, though it looks like it was only about six weeks (early April to late May), so the singles were already in circulation. Also, the reason I didn't realize that is b/c the album leaked in March, IIRC.
― jaymc, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 18:43 (thirteen years ago) link
Ah, you're right. I just remember the album actually being released happening a dog's age after it leaked.
― Gukbe, Tuesday, 3 May 2011 19:05 (thirteen years ago) link
Ellie Goulding was every bit the dud I expected.
Bring back out Kristen Wiig as Tina Fey's singing fetus!
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 8 May 2011 04:08 (thirteen years ago) link
Stefon, still hilarious. Now it's obvious the point is to make him break, though.

i like 'your song' ok but ellie has abt 5 songs better than that & 'lights' on her album imo
― johnny crunch, Sunday, 8 May 2011 05:45 (thirteen years ago) link
stefon is the best bit in years imo

Star. Studded.

Would see an Ambiguously Gay Duo movie with Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon (and Colbert and Ed Helms and whoever that was playing Big Head).
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:05 (thirteen years ago) link
ROFL @ the live action Ambigulously Gay Duo... hahahhahaha
― The Brainwasher, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:05 (thirteen years ago) link
colbert
― You Get Hoynes (bnw), Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:05 (thirteen years ago) link
I would sooo pay to see that made into a real movie
― The Brainwasher, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:06 (thirteen years ago) link
i thought it was just some lame rerun filler at first
― You Get Hoynes (bnw), Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:07 (thirteen years ago) link
that was pretty choice
i thought 'what's up w/ that' was too much meta & not enough sudeikis dancing
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:07 (thirteen years ago) link
jon hamm is just the best, that's all there is to it
big head was carrell
― Gukbe, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:08 (thirteen years ago) link
perfect!
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:08 (thirteen years ago) link
omg first buckingham and then this amibuously gay duo wow
paul simon kinda boring
― tehresa, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:10 (thirteen years ago) link
idk i think this is kinda cool/based
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:11 (thirteen years ago) link
at least listen-able, which is better then most of this season
― You Get Hoynes (bnw), Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:13 (thirteen years ago) link
There should just be a rotating Hamm, Alec Baldwin and Timberlake slot.
― Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:17 (thirteen years ago) link
i endorse this idea
― tehresa, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:18 (thirteen years ago) link
i'm just going to choose to believe that will smith set up his massive trailer in order to create a controversy so he could pull even w/ denzel washington in the "times impersonated by jay pharaoh on snl in 2011" race
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:26 (thirteen years ago) link
i believe they are both tied at 34
Odds on Jay Pharaoh having a second season? Low, methinks.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:27 (thirteen years ago) link
is it me or has there not been much Ed Helms in this episode?
― Gukbe, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:27 (thirteen years ago) link
i would hope that they'd keep jay pharaoh around considering how young he is -- i mean i know he was famous mostly for impressions, otoh i would like to see them use him for more than just impressions of the same ppl that black comics have been impersonating since he was a child
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:28 (thirteen years ago) link
I don't know if he's just not writing anything else, or if all his non-impression stuff is just getting cut at rehearsal, but he's a one dimensional castmember so far. Disappointing, certainly.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 15 May 2011 04:30 (thirteen years ago) link
I hope they keep Jay around, he's really talented he's just being underutilized... they ought to actually write some sketches for him!
