Dear cat hair,

You may soon be seperated from your host cat, Chief Petty Officer Brenda Waterbed. See, you're fuzzy and make Brenda cute, but you get on my blankets which is way worse than just getting on my clothes because of the tremendous amount of hair that can collect on so large an area. The result today is that there are rolled up balls of lint and cat hair studding all of my garments. They are tough wads with the tenacity of the burrs you pick up on your socks during a hike.

Also, as hot as this apartment is, Brenda will be warm enough without you.

WOO SHOPLIFTING!

Today I got: a regular, boring, but perfectly serviceable edition of Carrie for $9.99.

Also, a two-disc deluxe edition of Double Indemnity that would ordinarily cost $50 for exactly $0.

The savings are obvious.

Why don't more people shoplift from Borders? I mean, come on!

there to preserve disorder (kenan), Thursday, 4 January 2007 22:51 (seventeen years ago) link

This shoplifting trip, btw, is dedicated to Jenny and Jeff, who very much love the two movies I ripped off. Here's to ya.

(wink)

there to preserve disorder (kenan), Thursday, 4 January 2007 22:54 (seventeen years ago) link

That tears it.

Jeff. (Jeff), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Exactly.

You know, I'm glad I stole this. Disc two is nothing but a watered-down "TV" version of the movie. WORTHLESS.

there to preserve disorder (kenan), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Still have never shoplifted in my life. I'd probably feel really guilty if I did.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:22 (seventeen years ago) link

That's why you're a sissy girl who needs a dress and needs to dance around in the dress and say, "I'm a sissy girl who dances around in a dress."

Meanwhile, I'm risking jail time.

there to preserve disorder (kenan), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:26 (seventeen years ago) link

(joke, you understand. Because that makes me the guy who dances around singing, "Oh, please put me in jail!" etc.)

there to preserve disorder (kenan), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:30 (seventeen years ago) link

But I do get a lot of free shit like this.

there to preserve disorder (kenan), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:30 (seventeen years ago) link

C'mon, you're doing it because you want to be in jail in a dress. Or you're a movie buff, I guess.

Eazy (Eazy), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:32 (seventeen years ago) link

I want free things.

there to preserve disorder (kenan), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:33 (seventeen years ago) link

Remember those ads against pirating that were like, "You steal music, but you wouldn't actually steal a CD, amirite?" I'm like, actually, I would.

there to preserve disorder (kenan), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Also, Carrie is such a great movie. DePalma never did better. I guess some people would say Scarface, but those people would be rappers and murderers. Certainly not people who like movies.

there to preserve disorder (kenan), Thursday, 4 January 2007 23:59 (seventeen years ago) link

Rappers and murderers don't like movies?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 5 January 2007 00:03 (seventeen years ago) link

pretty sure my high school buddy Dave's roommate runs Belmont Barbershop. They were to have free beers and pool there while you waited, but ran into licensing difficulties.

Important Observation: families are embarassing.

Rappers and murderers don't like movies?

No. They like Scarface.

David Lynch is going to be at the music box. He has bad teeth.

Hello, polarbear. Do we know you? Velcome, Velllcome.

That cosmo was up my alley.

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Friday, 5 January 2007 14:21 (seventeen years ago) link

Spur of the moment decision, I'm going to New Orleans today. Just called into work.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 5 January 2007 14:43 (seventeen years ago) link

WaiT WAHT??!?

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 5 January 2007 14:44 (seventeen years ago) link

WOO HOO! Anything in particular going on there this weekend, Jordan?

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Friday, 5 January 2007 14:47 (seventeen years ago) link

There's a funeral and second-line for this musician and I'm going to go with one of the other guys from my band.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 5 January 2007 14:48 (seventeen years ago) link

My WOO HOO! seems rather inappropriate now. Hopefully, his funeral will be more of a celebration of life than the funerals I have attended.

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Friday, 5 January 2007 14:55 (seventeen years ago) link

Kevin, When you were speaking of BBQ... My mom took us to Central when I visited her, though I obviously didn't get the full effect since I'm vegetarian. I did drink a lemonade and take in the ambience though.

HI SARAH IT'S ME, WE'VE MET BEFORE

underwater ghost ship picture (skowly), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:23 (seventeen years ago) link

I need to take a random spur-of-the-moment trip sometime soon, it's been too long.

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Polarbear = EVAN

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:41 (seventeen years ago) link

I feel mildly hungover today. I am drinking a lot of JUICE.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Big ol' pic of the Fake Fics in the RedEye today, BTW. Same one you've seen a million times before.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh yeah, I saw that on my way to the el, Nick! Congrats. There's also a photo of one of EZ's poker buddies in the Reader. He's a sound engineer, but he's not in the paper because of that.

Tonight my plan is to stay in with Kr, order some takeout, and watch some Netflix. This idea sounds so perfect to me that I wonder why I don't do it more often. Fuck restaurants and bars.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:44 (seventeen years ago) link

That's what Nick and I do most weeknights, except we cook our own food and watch dvds from N0rth C0ast instead of netflix.

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Which sounds more fun - San Francisco or Seattle?

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:45 (seventeen years ago) link

San Francisco.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Ha ha. Hi, Nick.

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:49 (seventeen years ago) link

Woah, RedEye, eh? You're gonna have to change your name to Fakey McBlowinup, which I just accidentally typed as Fakey McBowlingup.

Both cities are fun, Sarah, and different from Chicago. Both are surrounded by gorgeous landscapes, if you can get an hour out of the city.

Eazy (Eazy), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:49 (seventeen years ago) link

And if you took three days and drove up the coast from San Fran to Seattle, it'd be the trip if your life, if you like pretty outdoors.

Eazy (Eazy), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:50 (seventeen years ago) link

As a possible travel destination, I feel like I should pick Seattle, because I haven't been there since 1993 (whereas I was in SF three years ago), but I don't know anyone in Seattle and a couple of my best friends from college (not to mention all-around good chap Adamrl) are in SF.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:50 (seventeen years ago) link

Vancouver

Failing that, San Fran.

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Vancouver's, what, a two-hour drive north from Seattle? Or a ferry ride?

Eazy (Eazy), Friday, 5 January 2007 16:03 (seventeen years ago) link

I was thinking a Seattle trip would include a minitrip to the Butchart Gardens, and a San Fran trip would include a minitrip to wine country and the redwoods.

I'M READY TO BE MARRIED ALREADY! GEEZ!

I'm Fuzzy (coco), Friday, 5 January 2007 16:05 (seventeen years ago) link

I want to visit san francisco

Jeff. (Jeff), Friday, 5 January 2007 16:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't care about wine country.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 5 January 2007 16:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I have been to vineyards. They are boring.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 5 January 2007 16:10 (seventeen years ago) link

But pretty maybe?

What does being married have to do with trips? Are these possible honeymoon destinations?
