Great NPR segment yesterday where a reviewer was enthused about how these movies treat race. Then they played a clip of that Onion interview.

I think I'm the only person who saw Justin Lin's breakout movie (Better Luck Tomorrow) and was kind of intrigued by him working on this franchise.

But yeah, Tokyo Drift for sure.

Anyone actually see it?

I saw it in a packed theater who took the movie seriously for about 3 minutes (up until that ridiculous bus flip scene after which the reporter says "surprisingly nobody was hurt"), and then it sorta morphed into a comedy after the ridiculous train scene. Got a lot of laughs when they pulled up the Rock's FBI profile and he's doing the People's Eyebrow. In fact, the Rock's very first scene was incredible ("stay the FUCK out of my way!!" - to a total stranger).

Don't think this is much of a spoiler but this could have potentially been one of the greatest of all time in camp action movies if the Rock had jumped out of the bank vault in the end, if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about

I gotta catch up before Memorial Day weekend. Maybe I'll see VI for my birthday.

I've only seen 5 but it was magnificent

should I watch any others or just be stoked ftm on 6

5 is far and away the best one, but all of em have their entertaining qualities. (except for maybe the 4th, which is sort of tedious.)

3 >>> 1, the others kind of suck

although i'm not sure if i've ever seen 2

i loved five but i have no desire to see the earlier ones. all the backstory I needed came from Vin Diesel either frowning or smiling when other characters appeared on screen.

look at you poseurs. i only want to talk to people who like & respect the entire fast and furious saga. 5, 3, 1 (after this a sizeable dropoff) 2, 4 is how i rank them... 4's the weakest but it has a few good moments
