The game sounds great on my new surround sound. Yeah the frame rate thing doesn't really bother me.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 11:55 (nineteen years ago) link

thats good news, have you learned to swim yet?

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 12:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Nah, I only got to play for about 45-60 minutes last night. Just roamed around really.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 12:41 (nineteen years ago) link

At least falling in the water doesn't automatically kill you now. You can dive down, do a Tomb Raider-type thing, with breath-o-meter and all that. Saw a big turtle and a small dolphin under water after I had drove my Grand Cherokee into one of the rivers.

I have the game in my bag right now. I can play it when I get back to New Orleans. 6 hours. ARGH.

I didn't notice the Gloria Jones track, that's gonna be pretty surreal.

god dammit I already own copies of like half that shit but I'm gonna get the box set anyway. I'm such a loser.

lol gaymo :[ just make some CDRs!!

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 20:54 (nineteen years ago) link

I still can't believe they actually got Axl ROse in the studio to do voiceovers....it's like getting Brian Wilson circa 77 to do them...

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 21:03 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah like you can't get him to finish his own fuckin album but you can get him into a studio to do voiceovers for a fictional radio station in a video game, where are that dude's priorities at

M1chael Ph1lip Ph1lip Ph1lip Ph1lip Ph1lip Ann0yman (Ferg), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 21:08 (nineteen years ago) link

nb I am looking foward to GTA:SA more than I am looking forward to Chinese Democracy

M1chael Ph1lip Ph1lip Ph1lip Ph1lip Ph1lip Ann0yman (Ferg), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 21:09 (nineteen years ago) link

actually i just realized i don't even own HALF of this stuff, even though I SHOULD. i should get the box set!!

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 21:14 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah the thing is the same the way it was last time around, like I own a LOT of it, but what I don't have is practically impossible to get without spending three or four times as much on out of print albums.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 26 October 2004 21:18 (nineteen years ago) link

how do i know Jodie Shawback?

also, who's on the talkie channel? is it just O&A, or does Lazlow show up?

Sir Kingfish Beavis D'Azzmonch (Kingfish), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:08 (nineteen years ago) link

OMG I HAVE ALWAYS DREAMED OF KILLING PEOPLE TO PACIFIC AND TO MOTOWNPHILLY AND NOW I WILL GET MY WISH, IN TWO DAYS.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:22 (nineteen years ago) link

what's the hard-to-find stuff on there?

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:24 (nineteen years ago) link

I think Lazlow's in it in some capacity

I wonder if you can put people in the boot of a car and drive them into the desert for exciting incongruously soundtracked murder fun

M1chael Ph1lip Ph1lip Ph1lip Ph1lip Ph1lip Ann0yman (Ferg), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:24 (nineteen years ago) link

Hard to find stuff: the Axl Rose commentary. Otherwise all of it is pretty easily gettable

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:29 (nineteen years ago) link

waxl rose

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 00:29 (nineteen years ago) link

oh okay hard to find if you want all of it on hard copy. certainly hard to find if you want it all on hard copy for $40.
yes if I gave a shit about 128kbps mp3s it would be no trouble I am sure.
I am old man who hates fun, this has been discussed.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 27 October 2004 01:25 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm wondering if Marshall Peters = Peter Marshall, and if Johnny Lawton = Johnny Lydon/Rotten.

Michael Bivens! MICHAEL BIVENS!

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 01:33 (nineteen years ago) link

It's not just slsk, I mean just go on and look at some of the Billboard compilations or "50 Greatest Country Hits 9.99" that I see on tv.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 01:37 (nineteen years ago) link

Anyway...so GTA:VC was released in Rocktober 2002 for the PS2 and in May 2003 for the PC; does this mean I might be able to expect the PC version of GTA:SA in May 2005, maybe? Please?

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 01:40 (nineteen years ago) link

I should not buy this.

The PC version was confirmed, but it'll probably be more like 3rd quarter 2005 at least.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 03:04 (nineteen years ago) link

I heard Spring 2005 for the PC version

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 07:24 (nineteen years ago) link

6 hours of playing yesterday afternoon, haven't even seen all of the first city yet. Although i've been working out like a mother fucker and am now huge and tattooed.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:50 (nineteen years ago) link

yes, but what about in the game...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:55 (nineteen years ago) link

(i'm here all week folks)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:55 (nineteen years ago) link

ZING! The game is amazing so far. Its incredibly easy to get lost in this one city, im up shits creek when I open the others up.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 10:10 (nineteen years ago) link

2 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 10:11 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh and be sure to get yourself arrested to find the best weapon of all in the showers at the police station. Yes, hiding in the corner of the showers is a 3 ft purple double headed dildo. Nothing like beating up a gangster with a donger.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 11:36 (nineteen years ago) link

chris, i hope this is true.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:15 (nineteen years ago) link

there is talk of girlfriends and "gifts" you get form them on various sites

Porkpie (porkpie), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:17 (nineteen years ago) link

i know, what the hell is that all about.

Chris, how do the vehicles handle? Have they changed anything, because the previous games were near perfect imho.

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:25 (nineteen years ago) link

The dildo is very true. Cars handle just as well as the old games, although now you have to earn "driving skill", which isn't very difficult. Just drive around.

One thing thats kind of stupid is the $500 corn row haircut at the barber shop. This must be one upscale barber shop to charge $500 for a haircut.

There is also a cool way of making some extra money in Downtown. Off track betting. You can bet on horse races. Good times. I can;t wait to see what the "Vegas" section of the game looks like.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:44 (nineteen years ago) link

The cars are a bit faster IMO - it would make sense, since there's so much more ground to cover.

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:46 (nineteen years ago) link

someone in my office just said that its supposed to be harder to steal cars now, true?

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:20 (nineteen years ago) link

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! plz

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:23 (nineteen years ago) link

No, its just as easy as all the others.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:26 (nineteen years ago) link

The car-stealing animation is slightly longer but is more satisfying. Also the lowrider dancing game is fucking great.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:26 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah, I was getting v. nervous about "now you can customise your cars!" I don't want to customise them, I go through about one per mission.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:27 (nineteen years ago) link

I went into a club in the game last night and there is some sort of dancing club game that you can do. some sort of dance dance revolution thing. I sucked at it. In my game CJ don't fuck with the dancin.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:28 (nineteen years ago) link

There is something incredibly satisfying to hear TOTO'S "Hold The Line" as I'm murdering people for some extra cash.
