I have actually only seen the non-founding partner's tax return. Do you think he earns less?
Wait, I am pretty sure he does, since his hourly rate is about $125 less than the founding partner's.
― Jesse, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:38 (sixteen years ago) link
i bet you had to look that up again xp to dan

Jesse, what does PC mean?
Also: last night I went to Planned Parenthood to train to be an escort and there there three people in the group of about 12 who had my last name. Including myself. That's just weird.

maybe i'm just not core
― kenan, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:46 (sixteen years ago) link
Evan runs with a tougher crowd than us old people do.
― Jenny, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:47 (sixteen years ago) link
i used to be a small groups development officer/compact co-ordinator but now i'm unemployed.
― colette, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:47 (sixteen years ago) link
Wait. Is that grammatically correct? It sounds wrong. The crowd with which Evan runs is tougher than the crowd with which old people like us run.
SMALL GROUPS DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS WI... oh nevermind.
― Jenny, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:48 (sixteen years ago) link
hey guyz IT'S FRIDAY
I'm gonna cut out a few minutes early, get a seat on the train.
― kenan, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:49 (sixteen years ago) link
I'm gonna go home, eat a hot dog, download a TAL episode for the road, and prepare to defend my secular lifestyle.
― Jordan, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:50 (sixteen years ago) link
That's also not very core. NO SEATS 'TIL BELMONT.
― Jenny, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:50 (sixteen years ago) link
To Kenan. Eating a hot dog and then having dinner with proselytizing Jews is pretty core.
― Jenny, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:51 (sixteen years ago) link
Speaking of which, it looks like a position is opening up here again. My boss asked me to remind her who I knew that had applied before, although she emphasized that applicants with copy-editing experience would be given stronger consideration than those without. (I don't remember what your resumes are like, Nick and deej.) If any of you unemployed types have copy-editing experience, e-mail me and I can give you details.
― jaymc, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:52 (sixteen years ago) link
i do copyediting here at my job. its not like ... rigorous tho. but i'm definitely interested in the uh 'craft,' and ultimately getting into publishing? but my current job is definitely all over the place and not copyediting specific
― deej, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:54 (sixteen years ago) link
The hot dog is kosher.
― Jordan, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:54 (sixteen years ago) link
So kosher
― Jordan, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:55 (sixteen years ago) link
Deej, that just means you have to really play up your copy editing experience in your resume.
― Jenny, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:56 (sixteen years ago) link
Jordan, you reminded me of Jesse just now.
Oh yeah, happy sukkous, Jordan!
― Laurel, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:57 (sixteen years ago) link
PC mean...something. Private Counsel? It's what a single-lawyer practice has at the end of the name.
― Jesse, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:57 (sixteen years ago) link
Why he reminded you of me?
― Jesse, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:58 (sixteen years ago) link
Because he just felt up a Lutheran minister.
― Jenny, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:59 (sixteen years ago) link
Oh, that's right, I forgot it was an Occasion tonight. Thanks.
― Jordan, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:59 (sixteen years ago) link
Wait. I am wrong.
― Jesse, Friday, 28 September 2007 21:59 (sixteen years ago) link
PC is a professional corporation. It's more or less like a corporation but with special rules concerning who can own it and addressing liability issues a little differently. It's basically a corporation for attorneys or for other professionals who may need similar rules. An LLP is a limited liablity partnership. It's like a partnership but with a liability shield limiting personal liability. There is also a PLLP which is an LLP for professionals.
― Jesse, Friday, 28 September 2007 22:00 (sixteen years ago) link
So what is a single-attorney's business. I forget.
John, I was going for something more like this:
