Anyway...so GTA:VC was released in Rocktober 2002 for the PS2 and in May 2003 for the PC; does this mean I might be able to expect the PC version of GTA:SA in May 2005, maybe? Please?

I should not buy this.

The PC version was confirmed, but it'll probably be more like 3rd quarter 2005 at least.

I heard Spring 2005 for the PC version

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 07:24 (nineteen years ago) link

6 hours of playing yesterday afternoon, haven't even seen all of the first city yet. Although i've been working out like a mother fucker and am now huge and tattooed.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:50 (nineteen years ago) link

yes, but what about in the game...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:55 (nineteen years ago) link

(i'm here all week folks)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:55 (nineteen years ago) link

ZING! The game is amazing so far. Its incredibly easy to get lost in this one city, im up shits creek when I open the others up.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 10:10 (nineteen years ago) link

2 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 10:11 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh and be sure to get yourself arrested to find the best weapon of all in the showers at the police station. Yes, hiding in the corner of the showers is a 3 ft purple double headed dildo. Nothing like beating up a gangster with a donger.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 11:36 (nineteen years ago) link

chris, i hope this is true.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:15 (nineteen years ago) link

there is talk of girlfriends and "gifts" you get form them on various sites

Porkpie (porkpie), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:17 (nineteen years ago) link

i know, what the hell is that all about.

Chris, how do the vehicles handle? Have they changed anything, because the previous games were near perfect imho.

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:25 (nineteen years ago) link

The dildo is very true. Cars handle just as well as the old games, although now you have to earn "driving skill", which isn't very difficult. Just drive around.

One thing thats kind of stupid is the $500 corn row haircut at the barber shop. This must be one upscale barber shop to charge $500 for a haircut.

There is also a cool way of making some extra money in Downtown. Off track betting. You can bet on horse races. Good times. I can;t wait to see what the "Vegas" section of the game looks like.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:44 (nineteen years ago) link

The cars are a bit faster IMO - it would make sense, since there's so much more ground to cover.

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 12:46 (nineteen years ago) link

someone in my office just said that its supposed to be harder to steal cars now, true?

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:20 (nineteen years ago) link

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! plz

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:23 (nineteen years ago) link

No, its just as easy as all the others.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:26 (nineteen years ago) link

The car-stealing animation is slightly longer but is more satisfying. Also the lowrider dancing game is fucking great.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:26 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah, I was getting v. nervous about "now you can customise your cars!" I don't want to customise them, I go through about one per mission.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:27 (nineteen years ago) link

I went into a club in the game last night and there is some sort of dancing club game that you can do. some sort of dance dance revolution thing. I sucked at it. In my game CJ don't fuck with the dancin.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:28 (nineteen years ago) link

There is something incredibly satisfying to hear TOTO'S "Hold The Line" as I'm murdering people for some extra cash.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:34 (nineteen years ago) link

I like the way that everyone else in the city acts like a fucking maniac. Last night I was walking down the street looking for something to do (no stars or anything) when a cop car comes tearing down the street and crushes me up against a wall. The cop then calmly backs up, gets back on the street and drives away. I then limped to the store and got some chicken. Awesome.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 13:45 (nineteen years ago) link

The country, the country! The back roads are awesome...any more info on if there is a General Lee, or where it would be?

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 14:17 (nineteen years ago) link

flying down those dirt roads on one of those big ass motorcycles is great.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 14:26 (nineteen years ago) link

chris and nick i DEMAND you stop posting stuff on this thread 'til friday ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 14:51 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm with Mr Carsmile.

Although I might be able to get myself a copy tomorrow actually. But what if I do? GTA vs FT! daddy or chips!

JimD (JimD), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 14:53 (nineteen years ago) link

ok. just remember to put the dildo to good use when you find it.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 14:57 (nineteen years ago) link

ommfg..................that would be truly beautiful.

I've got a friend who sometimes does techy stuff for special events at the imax at waterloo. Once he plugged a PS2 into it and played wipeout fusion AS BIG AS HIS HOUSE.

JimD (JimD), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 15:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Why have they never used the Beasties' 'High Plains Drifter'?

I HAVE BEEN WORKING OUT

HITOPS!

Damn Yankees- High Enough (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 20:08 (nineteen years ago) link

It IS harder to jack cars now. When you pull a gangsta out, he'll grab you back.
The clerks at the Best Buy I walked into were fucking SALIVATING as I walked out with my copy. I'm limiting myself to an hour a night. So far I've... Um. Saved the game. It's deep.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:11 (nineteen years ago) link

The music is too quiet and I can't get to SF without being shot.

The best scene so far - ordering at the chicken drive thru.

Damn Yankees- High Enough (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:14 (nineteen years ago) link

have you checked the audio options menu....they usually have settings for sound efx and music volumes, you should be able to adjust it to your liking.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:29 (nineteen years ago) link

fuck it, I'm going to go put this on my Best Buy card. I canna wait any longer.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:31 (nineteen years ago) link

GOGOGO milo! It'll be like buying a new friend!

Damn Yankees- High Enough (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:31 (nineteen years ago) link

with guns and chicken!

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:32 (nineteen years ago) link

OMG "The Truth" is my new favorite video game character ever. I'd elaborate, but it's kind of a spoiler.

MC Transmaniacon (natepatrin), Thursday, 28 October 2004 00:07 (nineteen years ago) link

This game is huge. I can't get my bearings at all.

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 28 October 2004 00:07 (nineteen years ago) link

Jeff K has updated his homepage with the best GTA: San Andreas review I've read so far.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Thursday, 28 October 2004 01:26 (nineteen years ago) link

Jeff K's review = OH SNAP ITS FACEBALL 2000

Alan Conceicao, Thursday, 28 October 2004 01:45 (nineteen years ago) link

It's Jon Williams' most fiendish plot yet.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 28 October 2004 02:15 (nineteen years ago) link

Thanks for the Jeff K update -- will check it out at home. I think the flashing html might kill my PC at work.

Finally outfitted CJ with some duds last night - green hoody, white kicks, and brown cowboy hat.

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:31 (nineteen years ago) link

holy shit, the first mission for Zero is annoying as hell but I can't stop laughing at the voice work
