Okay, let's see if this works....

Here are the first official shots of little Charlotte M. Smith in NYC..... clearly displeased with her father's ham-fisted penchant for impromptu and unsolicited digital photography. More to come, of course....but here ya go for now.

At 3 days old...

Oh, gosh. Congrats, Alex, and Charlotte is a fantastic name.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 26 March 2004 18:47 (twenty years ago) link

She is wondrous and tiny! But is surely already a firebrand at heart. Woo! :-)

bnw (bnw), Friday, 26 March 2004 18:49 (twenty years ago) link

Oh Alex, your daughter is absolutely beautiful!

(I've gone all broody now, and want to make a baby)

C J (C J), Friday, 26 March 2004 18:54 (twenty years ago) link

All you need is a processed ham and some doll parts!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:16 (twenty years ago) link

It's true that kind of baby won't talk much.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:27 (twenty years ago) link

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

geeta (geeta), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:32 (twenty years ago) link

Alex, she's beautiful.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:33 (twenty years ago) link

A processed ham + doll part baby sounds classic. It would give any mother-in-law a heart attack when she saw the little darling, so totally worth trying from that point of view.

C J (C J), Friday, 26 March 2004 19:34 (twenty years ago) link

Jeanne's already looking forward to Auntie Jeanne status, when she can teach Charlotte to kick some ass.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 26 March 2004 20:54 (twenty years ago) link

All go you get away from the baby, give her some air and stop fussing dammit! Here, let me hold her.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 26 March 2004 21:29 (twenty years ago) link

I am happy everything worked out so well for you guys. I had a feeling it would. She is pretty too!

Isn't it crazy that you two just baked a new soul into the world!

hector (hector), Friday, 26 March 2004 21:49 (twenty years ago) link

Thus Alex's need to honour fire, in order to ensure the correct temperature.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 26 March 2004 21:49 (twenty years ago) link

Here we are, back at the processed ham.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 26 March 2004 22:02 (twenty years ago) link

It's all part of the plan.

She is absolutely beautiful, all the best to the three of you, Alex.

silver girl, Saturday, 27 March 2004 11:51 (twenty years ago) link

Congrats!

She's so cute.

But she has the same birthday as a girl I know. That girl gets into so much trouble, nobody can take it any more. She misses so much school too.

But we all know your little one will be an angle! Congradulations again!

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 March 2004 14:35 (twenty years ago) link

Angel. Sorry.

I need to work on typing and spellling. Oh, becoming a writer is frustrating when you can't spell or type!

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 March 2004 14:36 (twenty years ago) link

"Charlotte is a punk rocker."

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Saturday, 27 March 2004 14:38 (twenty years ago) link

I'm fully aware that this could get tiresome after a while, but both the daughter and the digital camera are brand new...so...

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 27 March 2004 17:21 (twenty years ago) link

Oh, so cute!

My friend's mom is pregnate now. Three months I think she said.

Oh, everybody's family is getting new babies but mine. I don't think there's any hope of me getting a brother or sister now! I don't think I'd even get a new cousin.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 March 2004 17:28 (twenty years ago) link

Alrighty....last one for a while....and yes, I am that much of a predictable cartoon character...

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 27 March 2004 17:58 (twenty years ago) link

Oh so cute!

The Killing Joke shirt and all!

So, what was the first Killing Joke song Charlotte heard? Was it "Eighties"? Must have been, knowing her dad.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 March 2004 18:05 (twenty years ago) link

No, not "Eighties". It was "Sanity," actually....but that's purely because it was playing on VH1 Classic last night during a feeding.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 27 March 2004 18:23 (twenty years ago) link

What?

It was on VH1!

She's a lucky little one.

I still have yet to see ONE Killing Joke video!!

I had a basketball game last night. Tiring. But worth it! Finally we won! I was a huge part of it too. I had to tell the other girl to just waste time in the last 49 seconds. If I didn't, we would have lost the ball for sure!

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 March 2004 18:27 (twenty years ago) link

Hey, just out of couriousity (sp?), how did she react to the video? Did she cry of give undivided attention?

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 March 2004 18:34 (twenty years ago) link
