poor eyesight has not stopped many people from getting and using firearms. also that kid is so pale he's practically translucent!

Fine, how about this, then: what are the odds of hunting in the zombie-infested woods in the largely people-free post-apoclaypse, finding a deer, and then shooting at the exact moment a nearby forest-child was communing with the animal?

i stand by this:
i kind of wish that each season was six episodes, and at the end of each season all the characters would have been killed off, and then the next season was a whole new set of characters in some other location dealing with the zombies in their own way. but they still all end up dying eventually.

That would be awesome. Because then they can deal strictly with survival, or mostly, won't have to juggle too many lame narratives, and could change casts and locations at will. And have crossover eps!
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 27 October 2011 21:22 (twelve years ago) link
it would be more interesting to see what would change about them, what humanity they would lose, in order to survive, the things they would do that we'd balk at in our zombie-less existence.

I've totally cut and run on this show after the dire premiere, but the request still stands: please let me know if this series gets better, because I want to like it!
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 15:27 (twelve years ago) link
Almost did the same after that speech to open the the first episode of the season. They weren't supposed to use the blooper take where he pretends to be a giant wedge of cheese.

yes i liked the end of the last ep. BUT it was pretty terrible before that.

That zombie hanging from the tree was pretty cool. Norman Reedus continues to be the only decent character on this show.

this ep was horseshit except for the ending and the hanging zombie but oh man the kid in peril bullshit was 10000 flavors of WHO GIVES A FUCK WE KNOW THE KID WONT DIE

Got into a heated argument with a mom (at school pick up!) the other day about how much this show sucks. She honestly pulled the "I'm not interested in the zombies, I'm interested in the human interactions under stress." And I was all, yeah, we've seen that story a hundreds times, and better than this. Bring on the fucking zombies or find me some interesting human interactions, not these chumps.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:38 (twelve years ago) link
-serriously could not listen to the endless conversations all the way through
-hanging zombie was interesting so of course nothing was done with it
-hopefully the next episode will have them looking for sophia
-i'm still watching tbh

dont want this to come across as snotty horror dork, but i do wonder how many of the hardcore fans of this show just plain dont watch any modern horror and thus find this compelling/over the top.

Did I hear correctly (from the aforementioned mom) that they left a note for the little girl? In the woods?

i think it was a sign on the highway?
― brownie, Wednesday, 2 November 2011 19:43 (twelve years ago) link
nah i dont think so, there was a ref to how they were going to deal with that in the next week on the show segment, but it was not that stupid. dont want to spoiler tho so xpost

josh, you'll have to tune in next week to see if they leave a note or sign or maybe SOMETHING ELSE

loved "the swimmer". glad dude got it on with hot daughter. what is the veterinarian so secretive about? I'll have to assume he's running some freaky incest farm or some shit. anyway, I still ahve a really hard time with the dialog on this show, it is very badly recorded and mumbles-mccoy (the asshole cop who killed otis) may as well have his tongue cut out.

i caught five seconds of this and a zombie was ripped in half when being pulled out of a well so maybe I'll start watching again.

They're getting pretty good at one good scene a week. Dangling in the well was great.
― encarta it (Gukbe), Monday, 7 November 2011 18:02 (twelve years ago) link
Didn't someone put together a youtube clip of all the zombies from the first season, over the course of, like, 1:30?
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 7 November 2011 19:25 (twelve years ago) link
that scene with hirschel (sp?) and rick was so incredibly badly written, just a series of non-sequiturs underpinned that a total lack of any reason WHY they would be having that sort of discussion, and the clichéd "my daddy used his fists" etc, they both just kept answering each other like videogame characters. andrew lincoln looks worse and worse in this as it goes on, maybe it's the script.
also with the dude in the well, did they genuinely think with him writhing around in there they would have just thought "grand he didn't bleed" and drank the water once they'd pulled him out? i can't understand that at all.

I was expecting their horses to be being devoured by zombie hordes while they were at it in the drug store. Budget clearly didn't stretch. I think that's the lowest zombie quotient so far, one single zombie (brilliantly pulled to pieces).
I can't make out a word Shane says. Mumbling fuck.
― grandpa aaron knows how to live (onimo), Monday, 14 November 2011 10:41 (twelve years ago) link
They really have timed the zombie scenes perfectly to just keep you watching till the next zombie scene. I wonder do they just film them separately, then test-screen the talky bits and insert a zombie scene just as the test audience starts throwing things at the screen and shouting "SHUT UP YOU TEDIOUS AIRHEADS!"
When Herschel said they might be able to stay if they abided by the no-guns rule, I said to my husband "I bet you ten pounds one of those morons will shoot something next week."
