Good, interesting Belgians are anything by De Dolle and Phantom. Also Panil Barrique, which is an Italian but in the style of a Flemish sour brown ale.

I like poncey beers. Leffe (particularly) and Hoegaaaaaarden and things that taste similar but I've forgotten what they're called. Erdinger is also nice.
Also, I tried a very nice cherry beer last time I came to London. It was my first time. It smelt rather odd, but I put it in my mouth anyway. Nice, once you're used to it.

i normally steer clear of marstons, but i tried an old empire, perhaps because of the design, and i was quite impressed.

Haha, I can still remember the first time I had my first pint of hophead shortly after moving down here a few years ago, I think it finally convinced me just how much better real ale is than bland megacorp bears. And it was £1.70 a pint then - those were the days!
It's good, but I'm not sure it counts as beer.
Of course it counts as beer - lambic beers I believe actually existed before "convential" beer.
