wasn't she supposed to be playing linda lovelace or something?
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 10 February 2012 16:04 (fourteen years ago)
she lost that deal
― surm, Friday, 10 February 2012 16:04 (fourteen years ago)
there was also talk of a sharon tate biopic

There was talk about it but I think that Amanda Seyfred got the part last I heard.
― wolf kabob (ENBB), Friday, 10 February 2012 16:05 (fourteen years ago)
re: lovelace
sharon tate was about 80 million times more attractive than lohan, not to even go into the acting part

i was kinda depressed watching her in 'machete', like this amazing charming comic actress turned down the path into doing kinda exploitative shit like that as if that's what she thought was what people would want to see. also:
she looks like some people I know in their early 30s. like the ones who seem to live really fast
― valleys of your mind (mh)
yeah that's the worst, like she looks like someone ten years older who is living hard and looks bad for their age. : /

Terry Richardson is such a creepy, predatory scuzzbucket. I hope for a Hard Candy-like end for him.
― Nicole, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:16 (fourteen years ago)
She keeps getting praised as this BRILLIANT ACTRESS or w/e; what did she even do that was all that great?
― tropical mall lady (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:19 (fourteen years ago)
Mean Girls and The Parent Trap
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:21 (fourteen years ago)
(note: I didn't see The Parent Trap but it gets brought up as evidence that she is amazing)
i did not like her accent in the parent trap, sounded stupid
she was great in freak friday
― surm, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:21 (fourteen years ago)
*freaky
Oh right Freaky Friday, forgot about that one
she also did this, which is amazing in its own right:

i saw Freaky Friday in the cinema, A+

She wasn't awful in Mean Girls but i mean come on
― tropical mall lady (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:28 (fourteen years ago)
look, I am just telling you what her acclaimed performances are
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:29 (fourteen years ago)
she was never a great actress. Mean Girls is a pretty good movie with her as a decent lead, but it's hardly a compelling role or anything.
― max buzzword (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:30 (fourteen years ago)
Freaky Friday is fucking stupid just for the "I hate the White Stripes!/I know right? Get a bass player!" sort of dialogue
but kids talk like that! and worse!
she was perky, confident, fresh, funny and had an innocent appeal that nobody else really seemed to have at the time, which puts her in kind of a pickle because none of those attributes seem to apply any more
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:32 (fourteen years ago)
she was pretty charming, idk. i think any weaknesses were minor in that role. it's just kinda of sad that it ended up like this, she went from the lead in a tina fey-scripted flick to 'machete', kinda seems like a considerable fall.

alicia silverstone achieved the same level of washedupedness w/o the drug abuse (or did she?)
― buzza, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:36 (fourteen years ago)
she was very compelling and great and Mean Girls, with a charm and openness that nobody else had. same can be said for freaky friday.
― surm, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:36 (fourteen years ago)
promise was written all over those performances, so the great actress thing, tho perhaps premature, stems from that.

― buzza, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:37 (fourteen years ago)
this is incredibly cheesy but i thought at the time that her face was like a pop song, it was new but somehow you felt that you'd known it all your life
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:38 (fourteen years ago)
yup
― surm, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:38 (fourteen years ago)
there's a vast number of precedents for Lohan's career let's not all pretend to be shocked/surprised or anything
― max buzzword (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:38 (fourteen years ago)
are you trying to sell compelling realism as a virtue for this movie or...
― max buzzword (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:39 (fourteen years ago)
haha no i just mean i cringed at that line too, but in exactly the same way i'd cringe hearing most high schoolers who are "into music" talk about music
On May 5, 2011, Silverstone gave birth to a boy, whom they named Bear Blu Jarecki
this is actually making me look forward to the inevitable hoopla around lilo's future chylde, and what it will be called
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:40 (fourteen years ago)
A key thing to remember about Mean Girls is to look at the subsequent success her costars (McAdams, Seyfried, Kaplan--hell, even Fey & Poehler) have had as LiLo spins ever downward.
― Lady Writer, Male Seether (C. Grisso/McCain), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:40 (fourteen years ago)
lilo basically has terrible parents (obv, like super-terrible) and awful friends whereas most of those others i imagine were either strong enough to overcome any similar obstacles or surrounded themselves with better people.
― omar little, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:44 (fourteen years ago)
You guys are forgetting Herbie Fully Loaded.I haven't seen it, either.
― Trip Maker, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:45 (fourteen years ago)
i'm also the guy who loves "just my luck" and thought she was amazing in it, but i get flack for that. i think that was right before her downfall? not sure
― surm, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)
I don't think anybody saw Herbie/praised her role in it
― max buzzword (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)
I Know Who Killed Me, on the other hand...
i can't even talk about that movie
― surm, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:48 (fourteen years ago)
that movie should have been called "I Know This Movie Is Unwatchable"
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Friday, 10 February 2012 17:48 (fourteen years ago)
damn
― omar little, Friday, 10 February 2012 17:49 (fourteen years ago)
I was hoping to appreciate that movie in the same way I appreciate the Butterfly Effect but it just does not deliver
