United at home, Everton away, Chelsea away. We could quite easily lose every league game until April.

This is up there as one of the most depressing footballing days I can remember.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Sunday, 26 February 2012 15:29 (twelve years ago) link

Wish I hadn't watched that off the back of a particularly bad two day hangover.

Cragenham Craig (Craigo Boingo), Sunday, 26 February 2012 15:31 (twelve years ago) link

451 would have been good today i reckon, but still think 442 at home vs utd is a decent shout, if bale stays left and lennon plays.

steep? that's where i'm off hiking (darraghmac), Sunday, 26 February 2012 15:31 (twelve years ago) link

Could do with a mental Farenheit 451 so this game doesn't fuck the rest of the season.

did the teams come out to Motorhead there?

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Sunday, 26 February 2012 15:56 (twelve years ago) link

No national anthem, so Motorhead. Yeah, that makes sense.

Cragenham Craig (Craigo Boingo), Sunday, 26 February 2012 16:00 (twelve years ago) link

Better anthem if you ask me

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Sunday, 26 February 2012 16:03 (twelve years ago) link

No argument here!

Cragenham Craig (Craigo Boingo), Sunday, 26 February 2012 16:05 (twelve years ago) link

tbf i'd take almost anything over god save the queen. but y'know motorhead!

All those sponsorship patches makes the shirts look like F1 overalls.

James Mitchell, Sunday, 26 February 2012 16:10 (twelve years ago) link

I underestimated the winning margin by one goal

I wonder if Spurs slide now - and in a strwange way, Stevenage game will have been the turning point

agree that this kind of thing makes 'England need Redknapp' seem daft and reminds me that I haven't always been keen on him myself, though on balance see that he has overseen good times

the pinefox, Sunday, 26 February 2012 16:21 (twelve years ago) link

wonder if Spurs without Redknapp should bid for O'Neill
perhaps I am stating the obvious or the wisdom of 2003

the pinefox, Sunday, 26 February 2012 16:22 (twelve years ago) link

so predictable that goal

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Sunday, 26 February 2012 16:22 (twelve years ago) link

LOL.

Maybe I should work through all our games.

Still think 'Wenger out' because lol going two down to Spurs at home wtf is wrong with you. But putting 5 past Spurs and getting rid of Arshavin in the same week... if he hires a high profile defensive coach I'll promise not to say 'wenger out' again until St. Arseringham Day.

But LOL... letting Walcott put 2 past you in the worst patch of form he may have ever had. Redknapp for England - he's knows how to get the best out of him!

a hoy hoy, Sunday, 26 February 2012 16:24 (twelve years ago) link

walcott was rank but took two good goals and iirc forced another two good efforts just wide.

Rosicky and benayoun kinda killed us, sagna also vg

steep? that's where i'm off hiking (darraghmac), Sunday, 26 February 2012 17:46 (twelve years ago) link

  • that was ridiculous
  • has nobody pressed Spurs all season? They just fell to bits
  • Walcott was rubbish, but took his goals well. Tbf I'd've fancied myself to score those if I could run a bit faster
  • Parker showed his limitations I thought. It's like he decides where he's going to go before he gets the ball. If you press him hard, he'll present you with the ball 50% of the time. Modric is so much more agile
  • Rosicky's finish looked very classy, but
  • Arsenal wasteful as ever until Spurs gave up. Spurs looked far more clinical, despite everything. If they hadn't got a fifth I'd've still fancied Spurs to come back
  • hahaha

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 26 February 2012 18:15 (twelve years ago) link

I took a walk through the old Highbury after the final whistle. It looks pretty good, classily done. One of the flats has a Liverpool flag draped across its balcony doors, which is a nice touch.

Can't wait for the DVD.

FUCK YOU BBC WEBSITE AGAIN. MAKING IT SO MOTD IS NO LONGER STREAMING ON THE FOOTBALL PAGE SO I HAVE TO SPEND THE FIRST HALF FINDING MY WAY BACK TO BBC2 AND THEN MISSING THE FIRST 4 GOALS BECAUSE OF YOU I PAY FOR THIS SHIT SORT IT OUT

Also old robot wars commentator "YOU COULDN'T MAKE IT UP NO SCRIPTWRITER COULD EVER WRITE THIS" no, no scriptwriter would ever want to write 'underperforming losers get one decent result and still end up looking losers in the long run'

a hoy hoy, Sunday, 26 February 2012 22:17 (twelve years ago) link

did Sagna just call them 'the enemy'?

van Persie goals was, in the words of James Robinson, 'woof' though.

Thinking in the cold light of day that was a pretty high profile occasion for the future England manager to drop two big tactical clangers. Outnumbered in the midfield in the first half and way short of width in the second.

Allowing Bale to bomb about all over the place leaves BAE exposed and the same thing happened to Walker with VDV in front of him. If we'd cut off Walcott and.Benayoun better we'd probably have been okay. Also please don't turn Bale into Tottenham's Steven Gerrard okthxbye.

Also apparently no one told Sandro he was supposed to be in DM rather than upfront.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 27 February 2012 08:37 (twelve years ago) link

the bale question needs to stop being asked

steep? that's where i'm off hiking (darraghmac), Monday, 27 February 2012 09:02 (twelve years ago) link

Bae made at least one shitty clearance but I was impressed with him generally. He reads the game very well I think, he's always stepping in to snuff things out as they're getting threatening. I wonder how he'd be as DM?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 27 February 2012 09:22 (twelve years ago) link

he's fine as a lb tbph, he was hardly the only member of the defence caught out yesterday

steep? that's where i'm off hiking (darraghmac), Monday, 27 February 2012 09:25 (twelve years ago) link

In Harry's favour, he assimilates his clangers quickly and moves on - there's none of the prolonged persevering with a failing system like Chelsea or Liverpool have been suffering from at times.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 27 February 2012 09:26 (twelve years ago) link

or utd

Redknapp also failed in fabled 'man management' ie geeing up Tottenham to give it a go second half

I agree that this and possibly future results this season are going to make him look as mediocre as most England managers

then it will actually be kind of depressing if he takes England job and you know England aren't going to get any better.

the pinefox, Monday, 27 February 2012 10:03 (twelve years ago) link

best not to hitch your mood to that particular external factor

Ismael Klata, Monday, 27 February 2012 10:18 (twelve years ago) link

don't worry, my mood is hitched to other, much more depressing external factors

the pinefox, Monday, 27 February 2012 10:24 (twelve years ago) link

hurrah!

Ismael Klata, Monday, 27 February 2012 10:27 (twelve years ago) link

Redknapp also failed in fabled 'man management' ie geeing up Tottenham to give it a go second half

Disputed, I saw a lot of players giving it a go (although others went missing) except they were giving it a go out of position and trying to be the hero. Most of the composure went out of the window in the second half - admittedly that's Redknapp's job too, and his tactical changes didn't help.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 27 February 2012 10:33 (twelve years ago) link

redknapp had a bad day, aside from players individually having bad days. Messing with the wings just to shoehorn vdv or whoever isn't going to work unless the discipline is there and yesterday it wasn't
