I'm not homophobic but how come FIFA allow foreign managers as part of the team yet insist players have to have parentage of their home country.
Yet another farcical way in which football is run. The last thing I want to see is Lippi or Mourihno, etc., guiding our national team to glory. Give us ein Englander!

It's a good point though - why shouldn't the manager of the national team have to qualify to represent that country? He's actively contributing (hopefully) to success on the field.

For starters, because "smaller" nations rely on foreign coaches to improve their game?

Also the manager, unlike the players, is a salaried employee of that country's FA and it's kind of illegal to discriminate on the basis of nationality in many cases.

Plus there are many other people outside the squad and the manager's office who contribute to on-the-pitch success, and to make that rule would technically require every coach, trainer and physio to be English as well.

And that's the way surreydodger likes it.
