Jesus christ, Kenny Fucking Powers.
Just realised this show is kind of American Alan Partridge. Kind of.

first ep was great, second not so good, not seen third yet. i find the small moments in it more funny than a lot of the big setpieces, eg when he was leaving april the message and said "it is i, kenny powers". the will ferrell character really isn't funny to me though, i like ferrell generally but i just don't find that character well fleshed out by any means. it's very vague, even his clothes etc just confuse it more.

Yeah, I love the little language quirks they give Kenny, which he somehow sells - e.g. when he visits the grieving family and says "we're all in mourning, so we should crack some beers and watch some High Definition Blu Rays."
I was dying at him playing the Candlebox song on the Sony sports boombox at the funeral. The music supervisors (or is it just David Gordon Green? He always has great music in his stuff) get it so right (Morbius' comment still makes me laugh).

Looking at the IMDB forums (never a good idea, obviously, but still), it seems that a lot of the show's bro fans are really not into this season at all. I really think they've landed on a totally unique tone, though, surreal second-ep aside.

Him referring to Shane as looking like 'that smart-ass Cryptkeeper guy' was also amazing.
Oh - and when he's taking HD video of Shane's body in the casket, and the family shows up, and he's like "I understand, you want to spend some time with the cadaver..."
So many hilarious moments.

Going back again one episode, I imagine only a small group of people would have gotten it, but the reveal of the Mexican shop that Don Johnson & Kenny's half-brother are robbing turning out to be South of the Border was incredible. The people who make this show get the vibe of that part of the country SO perfect.

South of the Border, aka "America's Favorite Highway Oasis," is this super-tacky, totally racist tourist trap along I-95 at the border of the Carolinas. My family would stop there on road trips to eat horrible diner food and browse the tchotchkes (gems like a "peter meter" ruler in the shape of a penis). It's basically Kenny Powers in store form.

hey so i've got a question for you guys
why do you think april left? was she overwhelmed by the responsibility of motherhood? or maybe she's trying to give kenny some time alone with the kid so that he can own up to the responsibility while she contemplates getting back together with him?
