Annouschka Magnatech (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 25 October 2003 20:10 (twenty years ago) link

...so, reports?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 26 October 2003 12:44 (twenty years ago) link

alcohol= BAAAAAAADDD

Carey (Carey), Sunday, 26 October 2003 13:55 (twenty years ago) link

drinking doesn't mix well with sinus problems

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Sunday, 26 October 2003 14:51 (twenty years ago) link

Our local was uncharacteristically crowded, Spencer was a charmer, and some of us finished off the evening at Houston & Attorney, which wasn't my idea by the way. Plus cameos by Harvell and Sterling, and the return of MMMatos.

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 26 October 2003 14:57 (twenty years ago) link

Jess is a mushie nice guy, just as I suspected.

bnw (bnw), Sunday, 26 October 2003 16:45 (twenty years ago) link

It was wonderful to meet Spencer, Jess and surprise guest Miss Vicky! Also to see many of you I haven't seen in a long time.

We all got much too drunk. That last dirty martini was a bad idea.

felicity (felicity), Sunday, 26 October 2003 16:48 (twenty years ago) link

surprise guest Miss Vicky!

Heh heh, great -- yeah, she had mentioned she would be in town when I saw her last week, but wasn't sure of her schedule. Glad she was able to show!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 26 October 2003 16:49 (twenty years ago) link

I have to apologize to Yanc3y for arguing with him about where UN Plaza is located. He was right and I realized this as soon as he left and I had thought about it. But he should know better than to argue with a DRUNK GIRL.

Carey (Carey), Sunday, 26 October 2003 17:35 (twenty years ago) link

YOU DRUNKARD. You are not worthy of your loft, clearly. Hmph!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 26 October 2003 17:41 (twenty years ago) link

matos, daddino, and i finally packed it in around 7 am. i just got home. i am now going to pass out.

thanx u 2 all the ilxors who made my visit nice and got me drunk.

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 26 October 2003 17:52 (twenty years ago) link

multi-visitor FAPS = GRATE! aiight, who got the photos... Allyzay?

Paul (scifisoul), Sunday, 26 October 2003 17:57 (twenty years ago) link

roXoR

geeta (geeta), Sunday, 26 October 2003 18:58 (twenty years ago) link

It was so much fun I had to come back!

hstencil, Sunday, 26 October 2003 19:04 (twenty years ago) link

Dude did nabsicothingie ever show or did he lame out?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 26 October 2003 19:19 (twenty years ago) link

of course he was there! And I don't think anyone who has decamped to London has any right to criticize!

(kiddin')

hstencil, Sunday, 26 October 2003 19:25 (twenty years ago) link

btw after meeting him I think Jess is very nice and funny and way too hard on himself on this ol' internet.

hstencil, Sunday, 26 October 2003 19:38 (twenty years ago) link

Jess is very nice and funny

Yes'm.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 26 October 2003 19:57 (twenty years ago) link

nice to meet people, if only very briefly.
hstencil, when did you leave mighty robot? shai and i were bummed that you weren't there.

lauren (laurenp), Sunday, 26 October 2003 21:15 (twenty years ago) link

Dude, last night was like, totally rad < /LA>

I might have to move out here simply to FAP more!

pictures on Tues.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Sunday, 26 October 2003 21:21 (twenty years ago) link

lauren when I got there I found out Red-Eyed Legends had already played, so A1!c3 and I went back over to Manhattan for some party at Bowery and Broome (which sucked, but I did run into old Louisville friends there - btw are you interested in going to see VHS or Beta tomorrow night in Hoboken?), then went back to the Magician, then went home. For some reason, I decided to skip out on the dance party at Mighty Robot. Was it good?

hstencil, Sunday, 26 October 2003 21:28 (twenty years ago) link

the pa blew, which sucked, but they got it running again though it did interfere with dance flow. it was pretty much an average night out there - i danced to sparks, drank, hypnotique, and had a tantrum in the cab on the way home.

lauren (laurenp), Sunday, 26 October 2003 21:41 (twenty years ago) link

a tantrum? Gee, sorry to hear that. Sounds like a bummer. Well, at least they played Sparks.

hstencil, Sunday, 26 October 2003 21:45 (twenty years ago) link

first impressions:

spencer chow is some sort of a secret agent.

bnw is the american jel, with all that implies.

the ladies were all too cool to hang out with the music dorks for most of the evening, but why should internet mentalism be any different than real life.

i felt very underdressed and slovenly. (i dressed better today to go to the grocers.)

sterling has a lot more energy than i'd expect.

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 26 October 2003 21:52 (twenty years ago) link

dude, i always have tantrums at that hour. it's probably not what you think. no one would get pierogies with me! cruel and unusual.

lauren (laurenp), Sunday, 26 October 2003 21:55 (twenty years ago) link

dude jess you weren't underdressed, there was no dress code!

lauren I would've made pierogies for you at my house except 1) I wasn't home and 2) I'm all outta pierogies.

hstencil, Sunday, 26 October 2003 21:55 (twenty years ago) link

The image from behind of Ally walking, carrying a teddy bear from her outstretched arm, wearing fishnets and tough boots was very Yoshitomo Nara, "Nothing Ever Happened."

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 26 October 2003 23:50 (twenty years ago) link

Not exactly like Madchen mit den Winkerflaggen, but you get my drift.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 27 October 2003 00:02 (twenty years ago) link

There was a teddy bear! I remember petting something soft.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 27 October 2003 00:10 (twenty years ago) link

That was my sweater ;)

Mary (Mary), Monday, 27 October 2003 00:15 (twenty years ago) link

that was a nice sweater. ILXors were well dressed, even jess.

hstencil, Monday, 27 October 2003 00:16 (twenty years ago) link

And Stencil's haircut was sharp and rockabilly.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 27 October 2003 00:18 (twenty years ago) link

i pher the photos. at one point i was making the little bear do a little dance.

mohammed abba (dubplatestyle), Monday, 27 October 2003 00:24 (twenty years ago) link

F. and I drank to the point of losing all distinction; we thought every picture S. took was a good one, and surely this cannot have been the case.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 27 October 2003 00:26 (twenty years ago) link

I drank to the point of being thankful I was wearing opaque tights. Me being flat on my back on the sidewalk- 1 less thing to be embarassed about today.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 27 October 2003 01:09 (twenty years ago) link

Perhaps S. has sold his soul to the devil and has acquired the ability to take unnaturally good photos. I suggest we conduct another test photo shoot to see if the trick can be repeated.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 27 October 2003 01:14 (twenty years ago) link

bnw is the american jel, with all that implies.

I don't know about this. I am much more of a sarcastic jerk in small groups. And jel has better taste in music. I guess we do look alike tho.

bnw (bnw), Monday, 27 October 2003 02:36 (twenty years ago) link

Spencer and jess and Michelangelo and my crew, you know who y'all are (insert dog whoops here) my thoughts are with you and I'm sorry I missed you guys!! Spencer, Florent is the greatest, it ought to be voted "most dependably awesome place to meet people" ever!

Carey, Yanc3y always argues with drunk girls at FAPs, it's his thing!

Anyway I want details. "Houston & Attorney" = the Parkside?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 27 October 2003 02:46 (twenty years ago) link

Carey, you were so drunk you forgot you were arguing with me not Yanc3y.

My favorite part of the night was when the Yankees lost. Nice to meet and see lots of you. I'll be moving to NY in December (for real).

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 27 October 2003 03:06 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah, but I at least got to admit my mistake to you afterwards. And because Yanc3y felt obligated to protect your honor and was trying to back your ass up.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 27 October 2003 03:23 (twenty years ago) link

OMG Carey I am so sorry Raj like threw you to the pavement. That is so bad and I apologize on his behalf. OTOH you asked me in front of like 6 people why me and Tom didn't go ahead and have a baby already so I only apologize a little bit ;)

I had a great time! I don't feel I got enough time to chat with everyone properly cos there was so many people there, I was flitting around a lot so I apologize for not having proper chat with everyone and also for yelling "WOW! You're really tall!" at Jess. And also thank you everyone for being so nice to my friend Jackie, she had a great, great time and really enjoyed meeting everyone.

The bear photos will be uploaded Wednesday. None of you are saved.

Allyzay, Monday, 27 October 2003 04:46 (twenty years ago) link

ALSO: I was dragged into the UN fight.

By Yanc3y.

Carey proven right BY SCIENCE that the fight was indeed not with Aaron but instead with Yanc3y!!!

That was so horrifying, I try to jockey for a bit of space in that crowded pit and suddenly Yanc3y is screaming in my face "WHERE IS THE UN? WHERE IS THE UN?"

Allyzay, Monday, 27 October 2003 04:51 (twenty years ago) link

I miss NYC and NYCilxors already and I'm not even gone yet!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 27 October 2003 05:26 (twenty years ago) link

yeah it was real cool to catch up with and meet y'all. jess' tallness and garrison keillor voice threw me a bit. i was out almost to the end with jess/matos/daddino. uh, i ph34r the sterl gone wild bear photo, altho maybe if they were photos with dj griz it would be cooler. i barely got to say hi to spencer at all, among many others.

paul scifi and geeta both dropped hella wire knowledge on me.

and mary totally interrogated me (in the nicest possible way, tho).

(also nb to anyone writing for matos -- do not use the phrase "next-level" or he will get very angry)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Monday, 27 October 2003 05:30 (twenty years ago) link

Ok so it was YOU who put the bear on his nipples. I couldn't remember who did that, I don't have the pix back til tomorrow cos me and Tom woke up way too late to get the one hour, I didn't make it there in time for it to be done by 6pm.

Anyway DJ Griz ain't for shit compared to my bear, I mean my bear actually exists. It's not mine anymore though?

Allyzay, Monday, 27 October 2003 05:33 (twenty years ago) link

Did I say that?!?!

Of course it sounds like something I would say, but still.

Carey (Carey), Monday, 27 October 2003 06:15 (twenty years ago) link

Spencer, you should have stayed out longer with us than you would have seen my local. What did you end up doing the rest of the night, rock star?

Mary (Mary), Monday, 27 October 2003 06:17 (twenty years ago) link

once again, i had to miss out on what seemed to have been a real blast ... and i presume that there was no brunch in fact (b/c everyone was recovering from the night before?) :-(

anyway, it's great to read that everyone had a great time. maybe some other time :-)

(and is this NYC hordes invade Boston in mid-November thing still on? i can attend that, i promise!)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 27 October 2003 06:22 (twenty years ago) link

mid-November = mega-FAP = my birthday fap on sat. nov 15th
feat. special guest djs!! venue TBA

geeta (geeta), Monday, 27 October 2003 07:32 (twenty years ago) link

holy mother of fuck was that fun fun fun. the dirty bitter end w/me, Jess, Daddino = best 7am gotta-go-home-finally-already experience in friggin' AGES. THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING OUT IT MEANS SO MUCH TO MEEEE! [hugz]
