The older woman at the table, btw -- sitting next to Jake -- is Mrs. G. (Naomi Foner).

Where are you getting this, jay?

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:21 (eighteen years ago) link

(I LOVE Naomi Foner's silver boots in that pic!)

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 21:28 (eighteen years ago) link

Hoo boy:

On the same wavelength as Sarsgaard, Gyllenhaal said that he indeed "loves to tell stories in film," but then immediately said, "I already did a gay cowboy movie this year. If I did a musical, people might start asking questions. But don't think it's not beating deeply in my veins, and the urge is a deep urge. Deep, deep urge."

Unrelated, but this is too irresistable:

The highly acclaimed Toronto-based filmmaker ("Dead Ringers," "The Fly," "Crash") received the Sonny Bono Visionary Filmmaker Award...

Here's a handy comp of the Toothy Tile stuff:

OMG I missed the "deep, deep urge" part!

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 23:42 (eighteen years ago) link

Eh, whatever. Maybe Gylly is very close to his quasi-brother-in-law Peter, so that massages aren't so outrageous.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 9 March 2006 00:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Also: let's not discount the fact that the camera doesn't lie. It was hard to hide Monty Clift's obvious homo impulses, no matter how genuine his chemistry with Olivia De Havilland and Elizabeth Taylor. Gylly hasn't been in enough movies (i.e. good movies) to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he's got buttboy urges, whereas Clift had used (or was used) his ambivalence to startling effect in a half-dozen movies.

"startling effect" = #3 on Giant List of Phrases That Should Be Banned from Cultural Criticism

also: boy, susan sarandon is hott.

I just read up on Toothy Tile -- hadn't heard of it before. If T.T. is indeed Jake, then why does Ted Casablanca say that T.T.'s lover is NOT Peter Sarsgaard?

Re the first picture: I thought it was Jake's hair that Sarsgaard was supposed to be lauding?!

the ball-scooping motion going on in that first photo...

elmo, patron saint of nausea (allocryptic), Friday, 10 March 2006 04:01 (eighteen years ago) link

It irritates me no end that Gyllie can flash that 100-watt smile whether he's dealing with Oprah-related inanity or Peter Sarsgaard cupping his balls.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Friday, 10 March 2006 04:15 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't like Jarhead Jake.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 10 March 2006 04:34 (eighteen years ago) link

If anyone has Zodiac pics, now's the time to post'em.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Friday, 10 March 2006 13:44 (eighteen years ago) link

I like Jarhead Jake less. Seems like a totally different entity.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Friday, 10 March 2006 13:50 (eighteen years ago) link

Jarhead Jake works fine for me BEFORE they made him shave his torso for shooting.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 10 March 2006 14:11 (eighteen years ago) link

His lips and eyeballs are almost comically enlarged. He still looks hot to me:

Dan yr treading on precarious grounds with some of the Hollywood wimmin folx you've claimed are hot!!! For heavens sakes Halle Berry looks like those Ethnic Barbies they used to put out that were of kind of non-descript race and were the same thing as Barbie, except "brown"!

I WILL DEFEND U, JAKE

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Friday, 24 March 2006 21:35 (eighteen years ago) link

Um, thanks for pointing out exactly why Halle Berry is hot, Ally. I was confused for a second.

That is also the sexiest Barbie doll I've ever seen; help?
