That might have convinced me to stay within the flock when I was a lass.

seriously, i keep looking at it and thinking "jesus on a dinosaur.... maybe i gave up on catholicism too early."

chicago kevin, Saturday, 29 September 2007 18:18 (sixteen years ago) link

i just love the presumptive "but he probably did" add on at the end. it fucking slays me for some reason.

chicago kevin, Saturday, 29 September 2007 18:18 (sixteen years ago) link

'cause you know, he was hip like that. that's the kind of dude jesus was. a badass dinosaur riding motherfucker.

chicago kevin, Saturday, 29 September 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Kenan, you're the biggest fair weather Cubs fan I know.

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Congratulations!

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 18:20 (sixteen years ago) link

Container store today.

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 18:21 (sixteen years ago) link

i put the books i want to take to myopic in shopping bags but forgot how heavy a two shopping bags full of books are. now i'm not sure i can make it. but i'll probably give it a shot.

chicago kevin, Saturday, 29 September 2007 18:22 (sixteen years ago) link

mmm... I just ordered sushi. I like the place, and I went a little nuts with the ordering. I like how ordering sushi is complicated enough that you're always pleasantly surprised when the food comes, because it reminds you what you ordered.

kenan, Saturday, 29 September 2007 18:28 (sixteen years ago) link

my forearms are killing me, i carried my books to myopic and when i got there they told me they're "out of cash" and only doing store credit. which would be fine with me, but my landlady doesn't strike me as such a reader.

chicago kevin, Saturday, 29 September 2007 19:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Wow, driving sucks.

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 20:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Kenan, you're the biggest fair weather Cubs fan I know.

oh jeez, like that's hard to do. Apparently around here you need the be named Wrigley to be a *real* Cubs fan. Can't I watch the late season and have fun watching it? Fuck all y'all.

kenan, Saturday, 29 September 2007 21:34 (sixteen years ago) link

but of course you're right. A friend from college who hasn't seen me in years called me on it last night when I told him I was watching a baseball game... "Dude, I know you. You do not like sports." I explained that it's impossible to avoid anymore, and as far as sports go, baseball is defintely my favorite. Maybe because it's easy to watch with the sound off.

kenan, Saturday, 29 September 2007 21:44 (sixteen years ago) link

The Brewers have the prettiest uniforms in baseball. Great font, clean design. Love it.

kenan, Saturday, 29 September 2007 21:45 (sixteen years ago) link

You should get into college basketball. You could watch games in bars with me and Stingy.

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:02 (sixteen years ago) link

3/4 of the 40k+ fans in Wrigley are fair weather.

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:02 (sixteen years ago) link

The rest are just drunk.

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:03 (sixteen years ago) link

In the years when the Cubs suck, that ratio is reversed.

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:04 (sixteen years ago) link

Can't I watch the late season and have fun watching it?

uh, kenan? that's kind of the definition of a fairweather fan.

jeff, i'll be down for some acc action this winter.

chicago kevin, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:20 (sixteen years ago) link

Good deal, it will be a raucous good time.

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Things bought at the container school:

3 under bed storage containers
2 large space bags
New cart to replace the one I broke hauling lots of beer home
Belt rack
Scarf rack
Over the door shoe holder

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:26 (sixteen years ago) link

If you're going to break a cart, that's the way.

dan m, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:28 (sixteen years ago) link

It was harrowing. I wasn't sure what I was going to do if the cart wouldn't roll anymore. I suppose I would have hailed a cab and just put it all in the back. Or dragged it home. I couldn't leave the beer!

Jeff, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:30 (sixteen years ago) link

container school
haha school

La Lechera, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:31 (sixteen years ago) link

2x to the haha.

Jeff, where the hell were you hauling beer from? Not Jewel I would guess.

To the extent that even a tiny bit a fan of any sport (not a very big extent, that) I am a fair weather fan. Unless there is something going on besides the actual playing (going to playoffs, App. beating Michigan, Saints rallying spirits in New Orleans) I can't be bothered to follow the game.

Although at the Cubs games I've attended I was able to pay attention, understand, and even get excited.

My whole point is that it's completely natural to start paying attention when something starts getting interesting.

Jesse, Saturday, 29 September 2007 22:59 (sixteen years ago) link

You know what is absolutely a brutal physical activity? One you might not expect to be so?

Jumping rope. My trainer has put me through a lot of shit, but nothing can touch the searing pain (the arches of my fucking feet buurrrned), gasping, and eventual nausea of JUMPING ROPE. I was only able to do it for 30 seconds at a time, 4 times, with minute rests, but that. shit. is. hard.

He told me that we were going to be doing some stuff that boxers do to train, and later I told him that it was really effective since I wanted to do nothing more than punch him in the nose.

Mr. Trainer was teh hung over today.

Jesse, Saturday, 29 September 2007 23:03 (sixteen years ago) link

If being a fairweather fan means not liking to watch teams that suck, color me a fairweather fan.

n/a, Saturday, 29 September 2007 23:07 (sixteen years ago) link

unconditional support means sometimes doing thing you don't want to do.

chicago kevin, Saturday, 29 September 2007 23:35 (sixteen years ago) link

I was hauling it from Binnys.

Jeff, Sunday, 30 September 2007 00:50 (sixteen years ago) link

So I'm still interested in getting rid of the tall white bookshelf in my dining room. I was going to post a photo, but the USB cable for my camera is packed, and I have no idea where. So, if you've never seen it before, all I can tell you is that it's about 6' tall x 3' wide x 1' deep. Movers are coming by tomorrow between 2 and 3; I'll instruct them to bring it down but not load it into the truck. If you want it, it'll be in the alley behind my building.

Moving sucksssssss.

jaymc, Sunday, 30 September 2007 01:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Yes it does. I keep wanting to move a little closer to downtown, but I decided to put a fraction of the energy (and money) that I would have used for moving into making this a better apartment.

Jesse, Sunday, 30 September 2007 02:04 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm packing up the ol' computer. Don't know when I'll be back online. Maybe not before I go back to work on Tuesday...

jaymc, Sunday, 30 September 2007 04:17 (sixteen years ago) link

I've been playing solitaire for the last 4 hours and haven't won a single game.

Jeff, Sunday, 30 September 2007 05:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I won on the 56th hand I played!

Jeff, Sunday, 30 September 2007 06:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Was that in any way fun??

Lit- My Own Worst Enemy

This is the "car is in the front yard" song we talked about and agreed that was the best song of the eighties, nineties, and beyond!

Jesse, Sunday, 30 September 2007 15:09 (sixteen years ago) link

It was very fun.

Jeff, Sunday, 30 September 2007 15:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Courtney and I are going to ride our bikes down the lakeshore path. Join us if you dare.

Jesse, Sunday, 30 September 2007 15:57 (sixteen years ago) link

My bike doesn't work.

Jeff, Sunday, 30 September 2007 16:07 (sixteen years ago) link

fix it

river wolf, Sunday, 30 September 2007 17:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Eric, if you're listening, I had a dream about you last night. You were at a party at your house, and some people I recognize were there (as well as some people from my past). You were all disgustipated with the way your life was going and saying you wanted a change, so we all came up with the idea to burn down your house. It was a free-standing house with a garage, which we set on fire first. You had dozens of rolling racks of clothes, the kind of racks you see at fashion shows. We decided to save those.

The fire didn't spread to the main part of the house, and you decided to let it burn out and not make it spread, but there was a girl there with a grudge against you. She put a lit turkey fryer on rails and rolled it into your living room where she knew you would mistake it for a pot of soup and pour in liquid which would cause it to boil over and set the main house on fire.

Then a pot dealer rang the bell and we all bought quarter bags.

I'm sorry we set your house on fire, but you have a great wardrobe!

I'm a fair weather bike fan, I just can't be bothered when it isn't playing well.

Jeff, Sunday, 30 September 2007 17:40 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm also:

Adverse to manual labor.
Lazy.
Too embarrassed to take it into a shop. It's like taking your baby to the doctor after you have beat it up a little and left it out in the rain.

Jeff, Sunday, 30 September 2007 17:41 (sixteen years ago) link

What's wrong with it? What does it not doing?

Jesse, Sunday, 30 September 2007 17:48 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm embarrased to look at it too. The front tire is flat, I know, and it's rusty to all hell.

Jeff, Sunday, 30 September 2007 17:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Wow, the church down the block from me is rocking some live gospel reggaeton.

Jordan, Sunday, 30 September 2007 18:18 (sixteen years ago) link

i took my bike out yesterday, i tried adjusting the shifter cable but i need to take the cable off and re-install it. oak park cyclery did a shitty job of installing it two years ago after my bike was vandalized at the ridgeland el stop. this is precisely why i rarely rode it last year and had ridden exactly once this year prior to yesterday.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 30 September 2007 18:44 (sixteen years ago) link

also, i went to the farmer's market today and they didn't have much of a selection. in hindsight i probably should have bought some pears but i didn't. my friend amy bought a squash and some garlic spread thing, then we went shopping on damen for a birthday gift for a friend of hers. i got a lot of good xmas ideas. then i bought two six packs of pabst and now i'm watching football. if today ends with pizza or a blow job it's the best day ever.
