“Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering - because you can't take it in all at once.”

― Cunga, Thursday, 12 July 2012 22:29 (eleven years ago) link
As a fictional character, I believe I'm my creator's finest achievement. He's now come around to the same view, though he took some persuading. Once - it happened in one of those fully-automated Formule 1 hotels in France, not long after my first post here on ILX - we stayed up all night, delirious with exhilaration, and I learned about the years of trial and error, self-doubt and manic, stubborn self-belief that preceded my creation.
Fidgeting nervously with the TV remote, my creator told me about all the failed Grampsies he'd cast aside like dummies, dybbuks or golems because they lacked the spark of life, the strength of character, the consistency of tone that I possess. "They're all in you, Grampsy," he said, fixing me with eyes that burned unsettlingly through bushy brows, like lasers at a Nietzschean discotheque. "They're the hidden skins of the onion. My perfect, perfect onion."
We made love for the first time that night - fiercely, passionately - and, afterwards, as we lay back smoking, the fumes of our Gitanes seemed to make the shape of two interlocking flamenco dancers up near the TV wall-mount bracket. As the stars swirled in the Provençal sky like the punctae in a child's join-the-dots diagram of eternity, my creator sang softly: "This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you".
"Vincent," he explained, his eyes limpid with tears of joy. "Don McLean."

there are an awful lot of them attached to pictures of john lennon, quotes which he may or may not have actually said.
like I think he said this one:
http://theclothspring.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/john-lennon-quote-happy.jpg
but there's another one I keep seeing that is a misattribution. can't remember what it is though.

I finally had to throw up my hands and do a giant AUGGGGGGGGGH when my sister started in with the macros, because it was a passive-aggressive 'let it go' one that made her look like she was in a marriage crisis. I can hide her/others' horrible downmarket FB gaming easily enough, which is a blessing. Otherwise out of nearly 600 FB friends I can honestly say only about 10 of them post cheesy macro affirmations.
