yeah, definitely.
i liked how angry and suspicious roslin was though. she's getting meaner.

I thought it was pretty good. Characters I dislike so far this season: Stabuck's husband (too whiney); Baltar cult cru (espesh the diseased kid); Tigh (fantasy Adama killin was lame).
― wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 00:47 (eighteen years ago)
was the sick kid a thing from prev season?
― s1ocki, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 00:54 (eighteen years ago)
The boy's mother visited Baltar in the brig in the penultimate episode of season 3. She showed a photo of her son asked Baltar to bless him.
― latebloomer, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 00:57 (eighteen years ago)
I loved the cheesy-ass shrine they had with Baltar's photo in it.
― latebloomer, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 00:58 (eighteen years ago)
What about the son of the dude who attacks Baltar? Was there meeting shown previously?
― wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:01 (eighteen years ago)
their
fairly unimportant..but I was just wondering. I couldn't remember it.
― wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:02 (eighteen years ago)
I don't think the incident was shown. But iirc that guy was one of the "circle" members who were secretly throwing cylon collaborators out the airlock at the beginning of season 3 (after the exodus from New Caprica).
― latebloomer, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:06 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, they've referenced his family before. loved baltar's babecult - manson overtones mixed in w/ the jesus.
― balls, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:12 (eighteen years ago)
Also, was Baltar's mental cylon girl ok with him shagging the cult girl?
― wilter, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:15 (eighteen years ago)
Maybe I shd rewatch some season 3.

aw, RIP Lee & Dee
― latebloomer, Saturday, 12 April 2008 03:00 (eighteen years ago)
I could swear that awesome line "You're the PRESIDENT'S WETNURSE" is some sort of an Adama callback from earlier in the series...
― Nhex, Saturday, 12 April 2008 05:37 (eighteen years ago)
good episode i thought, they kinda saved the 'omg starbuck gonna kill the prez' cliffhanger w/ 'basically, women are crazy'. loved loved loved the cylon schism.
― balls, Saturday, 12 April 2008 16:36 (eighteen years ago)
needs more stuff blowing up and less emo now
― DG, Saturday, 12 April 2008 17:16 (eighteen years ago)
this show is not what it used to be. :(
― sean gramophone, Saturday, 12 April 2008 17:36 (eighteen years ago)
i dunno, i thought it was a decent ep. when has the show not been emo?
― latebloomer, Saturday, 12 April 2008 18:46 (eighteen years ago)
the 70s lol
― balls, Saturday, 12 April 2008 19:22 (eighteen years ago)
Bleh, bleh and bleh. One more episode from putting this gently on the "never recovered from the New Caprica aftermath" trashheap and walking away.
― forksclovetofu, Saturday, 12 April 2008 22:26 (eighteen years ago)
ya this is pretty boring. this show just completely lost the sense of urgency that had me glued to it in the early seasons. don't think it's ever recovered from those first scenes of cylons bickering back in late season 2... worst most disappointing reveal ever
― s1ocki, Sunday, 13 April 2008 00:57 (eighteen years ago)
i mean srsly that 20 minute bagpipe apollo goodbye scene??? that's what they come back with?? anyone here shed a tear over that one?
― s1ocki, Sunday, 13 April 2008 00:58 (eighteen years ago)
Hardly. They're of the opinion that they've earned that scene; I don't think anybody really cared.
― forksclovetofu, Sunday, 13 April 2008 01:17 (eighteen years ago)
especially not in the second episode of the season... way to stay bogged down in old shit instead of pushing fwd
― s1ocki, Sunday, 13 April 2008 01:36 (eighteen years ago)
I dunno. The bagpipe goodbye was certainly a bit much (BSG loves overlong goodbyes way too much lol), but overall I've enjoyed the two episodes so far.
don't think it's ever recovered from those first scenes of cylons bickering back in late season 2... worst most disappointing reveal ever
I can see that. Taking the mystery away from the Cylons as villains was probably not the best idea. For those who see that as a sticking point, I can see why the show wouldn't be as compelling.
However, for me at least, the mystique factor has been taken up by the mythology behind Earth and the final five, how it all ties to the Lords of Kobol and the origins of humanity, etc. But then again, I'm a nerd, speculating about that back story stuff's my bread and butter.
But I've also always dug the soap opera and INTENSE DRAMA (TM) moments, which maybe aren't to everyone's tastes. I love Adama when he's pissed, and Roslin when she's pissed even more.
Anyway, that's just my view. I'm still enjoying it, at least.
― latebloomer, Sunday, 13 April 2008 02:23 (eighteen years ago)
I noticed that Adama fished the ship model out of the trash.
First two episodes so far feel like set-ups for later episodes so there's a lot of foot tapping right now. Loved the ALL OUT SPACE WAR in the first 10 minutes of episode 1 (bored CGI guys sitting around waiting for strike to finish)
It hasn't helped that I just watched the entire season + movie of Firefly/Serenity in the past week w/high quotient of smart-assed violence.
― Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 13 April 2008 02:27 (eighteen years ago)
(bored CGI guys sitting around waiting for strike to finish)
The FX are one thing about the show that unequivocally keep getting better and better.
I'm also with balls (heh) on the Cylon schism. Loved that part, especially the look the centurions gave each other after they shot everybody up.
― latebloomer, Sunday, 13 April 2008 02:36 (eighteen years ago)
they should have high-fived, all would have been forgiven.
― s1ocki, Sunday, 13 April 2008 03:03 (eighteen years ago)
i dunno, the earth stuff is like... ya, earth. great. i already live here. what's the big whoop?
there is like ZERO sense that humanity is in peril and that they're scraping by by their fingernails and the cylons "have a plan" and everything is precarious and holy shit what's gonna happen.
it's starting to feel like any old vancouver-shot sci-fi show. battlestargate sg-1 is more like it.
― s1ocki, Sunday, 13 April 2008 03:05 (eighteen years ago)
Fair enough, I see what you're saying, the dramatic urgency isn't there with the cylons not busting the humans' asses all the time like the first two seasons. The show's focus has kind of shifted and I can see that it's not as interesting that way for some.
Well for me it's not Earth itself as much as how it connects to the origins of man and the Cylons, but like I said that's nerdy stuff, I can understand not caring about it.
battlestargate sg-1 is more like it.
Oohhhh that's cold. I can definitely understand thinkling it's not what it used to be but I don't think it's reached that nadir just yet.
― latebloomer, Sunday, 13 April 2008 03:37 (eighteen years ago)
lol thinkling
