So, there I was, over in our Other Office Round The Corner where I don't normally go, discussing work stuff with one of the engineers, and Geraldine the office cleaner was chattering on about the importance of a healthy diet.
G: I never eat crisps, or junk food, or anything like that.Me: Mmm-hmmG: They're very bad for you.Me: Oh yes.G: Just ask Shay Healy over there.Shay Healy: Very bad for you, yes.
I think my brain just refused to deal with it for a second, and I just sat there with a WHAT THE FUCK IS A COMPOSER OF EUROVISION WINNING SONGS DOING SITTING AT A DESK IN THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT AND EVERYONE IS ACTING AS IF THIS IS NORMAL expression on my face.
Apparently due to some arrangement with our CEO, he uses one of the desks in the office a couple of days a week. Still deeply bizarre.

Hey, I sat next to that gimp at a Cecil Taylor concert, but that was probably about 14 years ago. Always a mystery to me how a man of such taste can make so much godawful music. Wish I'd have asked him...

This is highly unfair as I didn't walk past any slebs the whole time I was there (to the best of my knowledge).

Yes and I saw him at Archway a few weeks back, he must live in the area now. Never mind all that tho, yesterday I saw... RONNIE CORBETT!!!!!!!! Boy, was I excited. The strange thing is he was taller in real life than he appears on screen and it usually works the opposite way.

this might be stretching the defintion. I could imagine him STALKING & MURDERING a celebrity, though

I believe Gillespie Jr is called Wolfman.
I once saw Terry Scott. He was licking an ice cream.
But Ronnie Corbett is very much the man of the moment, so Dadismus is in the lead.

Me -- well, about a month ago I ran into a local celeb. I mentioned this in another thread, I think; I was working at an election and a local TV news anchor who looks a lot like Mr. Spock and his wife went in to vote. A little over a week ago, Mom worked at the runoff and spotted them again. He looks more human-like in person, but I was really impressed by how normal his wife looked and acted! She's not a skinny plastic surgery bitch -- rejoice!
Oh, and we're having to get some work done at the house, and one of the people we've most recently called up for help was one of my dad's former cowworkers. He now works at the SBC Center -- apparently he ran into Al Michaels before Game One of the finals and said Michaels was genial and was carrying around a bunch of grapes. I would've asked about Alanis but knew he probably wouldn't have known who she was so I didn't.

A few summers ago I was walking on a nature trail in the woods and David Letterman passed me on the trail.
Years ago I waited tables at the airport restaurant. My first day both Lou Reed and Spike Lee came in for coffee.
And then of course there are Clinton, Billy Joel, Carly Simon, Mike Wallace, Ted Kennedy, Mary Steenbergen and the other celebs who vacation here - seen them around.

I really want to blab about who I'm supposedly sitting next to at a wedding this coming weekend, but ought to really not say anything, goddammit. But I saw the seating plan on Saturday for the chapel and my stomach did a fucking barrel roll. Fuck, I'm a nervous wreck today.

When I got to the park, I flopped down on an empty patch of grass. Turns out the people about eight feet away from me were the nucleus of the Dischord "VIP section." Before I finished my dinner and scooted out of the group's way, I heard Henry and Ian bantering about "pizza that keeps it real."
Embarrassed, wishing I had a friend with me to whom I could talk, and feeling too socially inept to strike up a conversation with anyone I didn't know, I moved to another part of the park. Then I spot ten feet away from my new seat Greg Dulli, presumably in town for July 4th, with a group of people. (I also had nothing to say to him. He doesn't seem to have spoken with any of the Dischord set that evening.)
Later, as the Evens take the stage, I spot Guy Picciotto. He seems to have stayed away from the Dischord set all evening. And then finally I saw Ian Svenonius, but he turns up at everything, usually about 15 minutes before the end.

and here's ian in today's guardian:
"The mood of a city has never swung so sharply. On Wednesday there was no better place on earth. After the victory in Singapore, Londoners were celebrating the prospect of an explosion of new energy and creativity; those computer-generated images of futuristic wonderlands rising out of derelict quarters and poisoned industrial wastelands were actually going to be built."
and then:
"But terror's war on us opened another front on Thursday morning. It announced itself with a howl of sirens from every quarter, and the oppressive drone of police helicopters. Along the Euston Road, by the new UCH - a green building rising above us like a giant surgeon in scrubs - thousands of people stood around watching ambulances filing nose to tail through the stalled traffic into the casualty department."
that UCH is just opposite warren st, and of course the most recent mcewan novel is set all around this area, and starts with an imagined terrorist attack.
