If you guys were my 21yo brother who loves this show would you rather your xmas gift be Jake the dog with bendy arms or Jake and Finn pillows?
I kind of love the bendy Jake but pillows are more useful.
― salsa shark, Sunday, 28 October 2012 14:37 (eleven years ago) link
The pillows are great. Plus, 21-year-olds sometimes don't realize they need couch pillows. Could be a good first step towards domesticity.
― how's life, Sunday, 28 October 2012 14:52 (eleven years ago) link
pillows all the way. good finds, both, though.
― phantompenguin, Tuesday, 30 October 2012 19:14 (eleven years ago) link
Thanks guys. I think I've come around to the pillows too, gonna buy them next payday $$

yes. it is excellent.
― Nhex, Sunday, 23 December 2012 00:46 (eleven years ago) link
bravest warriors, like adventure time, has a comic book that is really excellent - at least as high quality as the shows themselves i'd say

I just saw the "I Remember You" episode. Wow, really sad. Reminded me of a West Wing episode where Allison Janney has to go home and confront her father dying of Alzheimers, but you know, an Adventure Time version. Also they're developing a backstory for this universe now? Goddamn.
― Nhex, Monday, 18 February 2013 07:24 (eleven years ago) link
They had a basic backstory laid out on whiteboards or something in the writer's room, but they're always adding to it. That episode floored me too.
― how's life, Monday, 18 February 2013 11:45 (eleven years ago) link
I went to bed with a heavy heart thinking about that story. Damn you, Adventure Time, for bringing out my inner demons with respect to mental illness!
― Nhex, Monday, 18 February 2013 14:12 (eleven years ago) link
yesterday's ep was next level
― Mordy, Tuesday, 19 February 2013 21:09 (eleven years ago) link
I watched Seasons 1-2 all at once in 2011 and was urged to catch up and holy hell this show is fast approaching all-time status. The episode with the Lich and dimensional travel and the alternate universes was really, really special.

I don't watch a lot of kid-oriented shows but something I love about this is the lack of empathy on the part of the young characters toward the Ice King, they call him old and wrinkled with such regularity and have so little tolerance for his paranoia and mental anguish. That "I remember you" ep in particular was such genius, reminded me of the childhood eye-roll feeling I had toward my own parents and their "problems". Ice King's workout bench + talk of his "pecs" is exactly like That One Uncle.

(Also I wish my brother would let his kids watch this show)
I've said this elsewhere but there is a ton of YA animation right now that I find fantastic (Adventure Time, Gumball, Regular Show, Young Justice (RIP), Green Lantern (RIP))

can't wait until the end of March so I can catch up on this series properly through Netflix
― Nhex, Wednesday, 20 February 2013 00:04 (eleven years ago) link
I've just started series 5, what I really like about Adventure Time is its always consistently brilliant. That and I have a thing for lumpy space princess, oh my glob you guys!

between milkshake and marc maron, they've really been killing it with the guest spots this season.
― phantompenguin, Friday, 22 February 2013 06:50 (eleven years ago) link
sometimes i'll just think about that creepy laugh-cry Fiona has at the end of that "Bad Little Boy" episode
also Bravest Warriors looks like it's doing some fun/interesting stuff with the new "season". catbug and the horse are amazing

Do any of you guys watch Incredible Crew? It's a sketch comedy show on Thursday nights. It's hit or miss, but definitely has some bits that busted me up laughing. I dunno, it might help to have kids in order to really get into it, since all the actors are so young. Anyway, one of the actors is the guy who does Finn's voice.

really? had no idea
I did chuckle at this one

really do not like that episode at all, kinda demonstrates how fragile the show's charms are and what tender care must be taken with them
― unprepared guitar (Edward III), Friday, 5 April 2013 04:47 (eleven years ago) link
I liked it! Best gag was PBG making out with her hand and then sternly telling it "No!" before kissing it again.

The visuals were cool too, but you have to Open Your Mind to the difference. The artist/animator they worked with is talented
