It's Billy Connolly, who's a Scottish stand-up comic. Next line of that was something like 'what are you going to do with your 53 virgins when you're flying fucking mince' which is a little bit funnier.

"if you can get drugs then you can afford groceries" is such a bullshit argument, i mean i'm pretty sure most stores won't let you trade sex for groceries, for one thing

but basically, yes, let's punish people with addictions by taking away their ability to pay for food and shelter, yaaaay we solved welfare

A friend and I were explaining how dumb a drug test for unemployment is to some other friends and he eventually just explained that his old job in manufacturing usually had a furlough period once a year for 2 - 3 weeks where he'd be eligible for unemployment. He basically used it as either a time to go on hiking trips or would watch tons of old movies. Either way, he did a fair bit of smoking. Due to the fact he was technically laid off for that time, he could collect unemployment.
― d-_-b (mh), Thursday, 8 November 2012 22:16 (eleven years ago) link
also: it would be crazy expensive to even implement and run a drug-testing program in all fifty states. you might even say it's...Wasteful Government Spending?????>

congrats, you have a drug problem and now you have no money for food or shelter
― d-_-b (mh), Thursday, 8 November 2012 22:27 (eleven years ago) link
yeah it's not a thoughtful argument based in any sort of practical logic, really, it's about expressing how much you dislike poor brown people without actually saying so

Yeah, it took me a while to even work out what that was about, b/c Minaj firmly stated that it was a tongue-in-cheek in-character endorsement.
