Completely agree. He was more muted and refined than usual but he was still himself. I could get past it.

There's like a weird dead zone for me between 105 minutes and 165 minutes. Less than that is admirably spry, more than that is probably using its duration as a formal device. In the middle is so often meh.

I mean, all movies should really be either 450 minutes or 12 seconds long.

Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, The Grey, and Attenberg. Of those of these that I've seen, that is.

I liked The Grey and Beyond the Black Rainbow.

Anyone seen Rust and Bone yet? So cheesy and sentimental it's ridiculous. Couldn't believe it.

Hyde Park on Hudson just made me feel sorry for Bill Murray the entire time.

I mean, I know there's a doilied old biddy audience out there for these stuffy, cursivey movies. But Murray seems to be grimacing his way through it.

I really dug Loneliest Planet, maybe only slightly less than DNDN. Loktev always gets great spatial depth with her images.

DNDN did get better after the first thirty minutes.

Also am a huge sucker for schematically bifurcated movies.
