took me a while to interpret this, thinking this was a cop and there was some complex statement being made about how the government is robbing cops of the power to fight back with all this non-lethal defensive stuff...but actually it's about everyday citizens "needing" all this gear to protect them from all the bullets flying around? which sounds like a good argument for gun control but i don't think it is.

this feels like it's going for a really old-school political cartoonist vibe, with the stiff presentation and damning quote

Not really a "right-wing political cartoon," but close enough - this appeared in the Wall Street Journal in an article on tax changes in the "fiscal cliff" bill:
http://static1.firedoglake.com/29/files/2013/01/Screen-Shot-2013-01-15-at-11.58.52-AM.png
As this blogger points out, Yes, in that comic, every single one of those families makes a six figure income, the lowest being $180 thousand, and yet because of the new tax hikes imposed by Obama, they all appear as though he ran over the family dog.
The median household income in the U.S. between 2007-2011 was $52,762, but the American people are all supposed to shed tears for those that make between three to twelve times as much?

It's not easy being a single parent of two children with only $260,000 coming in - and that's before taxes! Those goddamn food stamps don't buy diapers.

the whole objective of that graphic is to portray the injustice and gross indignity of increasing marginal tax rates
of course you can only illustrate that injury by making up imaginary households that are all have incomes affected by marginal tax rate increases
