So yeah, random white guy who looks like every other dude walking down the streets of Back Bay = nothing particularly special or distinctive, sorry ladies/gay men/bi men.

can i just say... it's so beyond cliche by now, but clooney REALLY IS THAT HOT.

Clooney is defintely hot. And so is Jake.

Dan can you give us a map to this Back Bay?

my favorite "hunky actors" are old-school guys like donald sutherland, richard benjamin, dustin hoffman, bud cort circa brewster mccloud...

1. Fly to Logan Airport.
2. Take the airport bus to the Airport T-stop.
3. Take the train to Government Center. Switch from the blue line to the green line inbound.
4. Take any train to the Arlington stop.
5. Exit the subway.
6. Watch a legion of guys who look just like Jake Gyllenhaal power-walk from business meeting to bar.

Dan (Easy Peasy) Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 24 March 2006 22:24 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah well i guess there's a racial divide here, to an extent. none of the guys Dan posted pics of are amazingly good looking, at least not in those photos. clooney is hot, jake is hot. they've both got alot of personality.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 24 March 2006 22:27 (eighteen years ago) link

no, Jesse L. Martin is quite hot. Just not as hot as Jake.

elmo, holy helper (allocryptic), Friday, 24 March 2006 22:29 (eighteen years ago) link

has someone already posted this already? probably. anyway:

Strange turns this thread takes. The only new thing I have to say about Jake G. is that no other photo of his will beat those Oscar party ones.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 March 2006 03:32 (eighteen years ago) link

This thread is a chapter in Ulysses.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Saturday, 25 March 2006 03:45 (eighteen years ago) link

And jake said yes he said yes...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 25 March 2006 03:47 (eighteen years ago) link

I think Jake should play Wonder Woman.

pixel farmer (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 25 March 2006 03:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Well, the thing about the Oscar party pix is that they make Jake seems "gettable." Esp since he's not Stunningly Beautiful in the way that Djimon Hounsou is.

Brad Pitt only looks great when DIRTY.

Well, that and in them Gyllie has his tongue out. A lot.

Sir ian McKellan blasts Jake Gyllenhaal:

SIR IAN MCKELLEN has criticised JAKE GYLLENHAAL for being apprehensive about kissing his BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN co-star HEATH LEDGER on screen. The openly gay THE LORD OF THE RINGS actor - who recently spoke out against Hollywood's old-fashioned views on sexuality - lambasted Gyllenhaal, 25, for failing to consider how his comments would be interpreted from a homosexual perspective. He says, "I got very upset when one of the actors said it was the most terrifying job he'd ever had because it involved him kissing another man. "Imagine how rude that is. Suppose I'd said the most appalling thing I ever to do was kiss HELEN MIRREN!"

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 30 March 2006 19:13 (eighteen years ago) link

Appalling != terrifying, Sir Ian.

Jake looked/sounded about 12 when he gave that little speech at the Oscars about how we should all go to the movies (and stop bootlegging n shit). Emmanuel Lewis would have been more manly.

Okay, um, so am I the first person to realize "ranch hand" is a really nasty synonym for "masturbation"?

OK, but you do realize the little speech itself was written by and for 12-yr-olds? I'm glad he just thought, "This is horseshit."

That's exactly what my film critic friend wrote in her DVD review running this Tuesday. We both know how reliable she is!

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Saturday, 1 April 2006 18:30 (eighteen years ago) link

but here we have visual evidence that she is OTM, for once!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 3 April 2006 13:23 (eighteen years ago) link

she may even have used the phrase 'wifebeater love.'

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Monday, 3 April 2006 13:48 (eighteen years ago) link

My Film Critic Friend on the BBM DVD extras:

Perhaps intentionally, the first offering, called On Being a Cowboy, features Ledger matter-of-factly announcing, "I can split a log," his head shaved, native Australian accent intact. Before you can begin to swoon properly, Gyllenhaal is charitably giving an interview in a wifebeater and a cowboy hat. (The latter actor, at only 25, has got to be one of the most beguiling performers in motion picture history; seriously, you can imagine leaving Clooney for this man. Clooney!) All this eye candy swirling around is sure to be welcomed by the movie's target audience -- that's right, human beings with good taste -- but it does not quite distract enough from the fact that the featurette is a mere 51/2 minutes long.

Even though Jake is now split with Kirsten Dunst and Nichols broke off his engagement to Claire Oswalt, Gyllenhaal's rep says he and Nichols are just friends."

Notice that the agent didn't affirm Jake's heterosexuality. "Just friends," har har.
