Thermo and brio: don't forget that first and foremost we're all Torontonians, united by our love of crack. Forming a united front is the only way we'll be able to buy and consume lots of the high-quality crack we love.

If all this turns out to be true, Ford should get an award for World's Portliest Crackhead.

it's really amazing listening to the radio show. It's really hard to reconcile their personalities on the show with what their private lives are apparently like.

i don't understand.
was the video hidden? does he mean he knows who had it?
does this mean he previously knew where the video was and who was in possession of it and presently doesn't know?

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford told senior aides not to worry about a video appearing to show him smoking crack cocaine because he knew where it was, sources told the Star.Ford then blurted out the address of two 17th-floor units — 1701 and 1703 — at a Dixon Rd. apartment complex, to the shock of staffers at a city hall meeting almost two weeks ago, the sources said. The mayor cited “our contacts” as the source of his information, according to insiders familiar with the unusual May 17 session in his office.Staffers were alarmed by the implication of hearing so precise a location, sources said.
Two weeks ago! And it seems Towhey is the only one who went to the cops about this. I sincerely hope the other senior aides in that office never work in politics again.

Second man charged with Anthony Smith shooting arrested in Alberta (where the video holders told the Star they wanted to relocate):
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/police-identify-man-arrested-in-shooting-tied-to-alleged-rob-ford-drug-video/article12257252/
If I recall correctly, Ford aide David Price supposedly told Towhey that Anthony Smith had been shot for the video.
If this ends up being true, and Smith was shot for the phone by the guys who tried to sell it it puts the Crackstarter thing in a whole new light. I feel kind of shitty about saying the Star should have just ponied up - even if that's not the scenario that went down, it's a good argument for why you don't hand over 200K for news.

I'd like to raise money to shoot a video of Tom Ford smoking crack.

I'm surprised there's been no mention (that I've seen, anyway) of Ford's wife through all of this. I had to look her up: Renata Brejniak, married in 2000, still married. I'm not saying she's implicated in any way, but it's pretty standard for spouses to step forward and tell the world how wonderful her husband is. If Ford draws a line and keeps his wife out of his personal messes, then I guess that's one admirable thing I can attribute to him.
― clemenza, Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:11 (eleven years ago) link
god the idea that rob ford accidentally blurted out the address where the video was being held during a council meeting MAY be the funniest part of this yet
― we're up all night to get (s1ocki), Thursday, 30 May 2013 21:44 (eleven years ago) link
Also the idea that "Don't worry, I know where the video of me smoking crack is" was supposed to be in any way a reassuring statement.
― something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:10 (eleven years ago) link
So wait, lemme get this straight--right now it appears as if the people trying to sell the video for $200k first killed someone else w the video so that they could take it and sell it?

― walk in the room they throwin Sade left to right (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:20 (eleven years ago) link
It's super unclear if it's true, but that is a scenario that is being floated.
― brio, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:33 (eleven years ago) link
also - I don't the suggestion is that he blurted out the address during a council meeting - but in a meeting with his senior staff
― brio, Thursday, 30 May 2013 22:34 (eleven years ago) link
but I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking Ford was capable of blurting out the address of his crack den in council.
I wonder if Towey has a book deal yet? With the inevitable movie or mini-series, could be a goldmine.
