hey, Sushi S--- and Sushi of G--- are not very flashy-looking! I don't think the former is, at least; I've only taken the bus past it.

Sushi of G*** is not but G*** (same name) is. S*** is only good after 11pm because they are the only ones open late but I just heard that the ex-G*** chef's at S*** have left! :-(

I'm playing at the Makeout Room tonight at 9pm. Slint is sold out so you have no reason not to come. Obligatory self-aggrandizing spam now:

This is our first show since November and we've written an entirely new album since, songs from which we'll be road testing tonight. The band will be myself, Sacha Galvagna, Raj Ojha, and Ray Welter.

We'll also have official copies of the forthcoming album "The Glass Bottom Boat" for sale. The album will be released by UK Label Resonant on August 20th (and distributed by Darla in the US) and available at fine online establishments and the two physical record stores left in existence. But you can have them a month early and give your money
directly to us if you come to the show. Some of you may already have CD-Rs of the album but trust me when I say that the final product looks beautiful (for those who care about packaging).

Details:

Carta @ the Makeout Room
w/ Jake Mann and Snowdrift
3225 22nd St, San Francisco
showtime: 9pm
door fee: $7 (I think)

We're playing first.

Hope to see some of you there,

Kyle

Is it me or does the city feel extra crazy today? Way more people than usual, Market St feels like Manhattan, power cuts everywhere, sirens all day long and there's been two huge film shoots on my street - one for "Journeyman" and another for Fruit Of The Loom - dudes dressed like this:

we're on emergency power right now as a matter of fact, wtf

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 21:49 (sixteen years ago) link

there were 3 separate gunfight incidents yesterday on market street between 10am-6pm.

Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:30 (sixteen years ago) link

all I heard about was a shooting on Mason Street...?

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:32 (sixteen years ago) link

Steve, how many were you in?

Michael White, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:33 (sixteen years ago) link

haha "gunfight"

Too many Turner Classic westerns and Louis L'Amour paperbacks for mr shasta!

admrl, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:37 (sixteen years ago) link

the Mason Street shooting involved someone being shot in the foot

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:40 (sixteen years ago) link

there was Mason, then a driveby near the chess tables and finally an execution style to a car passenger on Cyril Magnin.

Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:44 (sixteen years ago) link

so...does this town have a new sheriff?

admrl, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Holy Fcuk!

Michael White, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 25 July 2007 15:56 (sixteen years ago) link

I killed a thread. Gourmet macaroni cook-off and BBQ at my downstairs neighbors house this afternoon.

MParadis, Sunday, 19 August 2007 21:57 (sixteen years ago) link

i used this thread a few weeks ago on a little weekend trip, went to dotties(we stayed around the corner, as it happened) and while in line we chatted with a dude who owns a cabbie school. After breakfast he graciously offered to drive us around the city and we graciously accepted; we hit the civic center, opera house, that big dome by the lake(forgot what it's called sry), across/above the golden gate, the presidio, robin williams' house, north beach and then he had to go and dropped us off in front of our hotel. he was fucking awesome, he said doing the tours are actually fun for him even after all these years. I owe it all to you guys and him and san francisco and myself.

tremendoid, Sunday, 19 August 2007 22:42 (sixteen years ago) link

Goodbye, SF. It was fun knowing you.

The Reverend, Monday, 20 August 2007 10:58 (sixteen years ago) link

(I soooo want to go back. Hopefully when I have a traveling companion who is of legal drinking age/isn't a teetotaler. That city is fucking brilliant. Oh, and that cool Temple/Dome-ish thing is the Exploratorium.)

The Reverend, Monday, 20 August 2007 11:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I want to go back too :(

Jill, Monday, 20 August 2007 14:05 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh, and that cool Temple/Dome-ish thing is the Exploratorium.

I don't know if I'll make it back before then, but I'll definitely be there next August. I'm going to make a work trip to the CA State Fair and fit in side trips to SF and possibly Redding. Although going to Redding just to see the Sundial Bridge may not be worth it.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 20 August 2007 18:05 (sixteen years ago) link

Redding is roughly 5 hours away and has little to recommend it in the way of tourism

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 20 August 2007 18:07 (sixteen years ago) link

He used to live there, Shakey. He knows.

Michael White, Monday, 20 August 2007 18:07 (sixteen years ago) link

God, do I know. Even so, there were hundreds of better meals there than here in franchised-to-death Amory.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 20 August 2007 18:11 (sixteen years ago) link

I want to come to SF during Dungeness season and get a case of crabs.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 20 August 2007 18:12 (sixteen years ago) link

Also, Redding city limits to Bay Bridge = 2:30.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 20 August 2007 18:14 (sixteen years ago) link

haha don't mind me! sorry

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 20 August 2007 18:15 (sixteen years ago) link

im moving there in about a week, ilx.

chaki, Monday, 20 August 2007 18:24 (sixteen years ago) link

I think I want to move there at some point in my life.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 18:35 (sixteen years ago) link

K so I live here now. Anyone know of a good temp agency?

freewheel, Tuesday, 28 August 2007 01:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 28 August 2007 01:31 (sixteen years ago) link
