I also hope that the sound one makes when saying ***** out loud is that of a needle being scratched across a moving record.

What rhymes with that though?

I knew a kid in high school who shoplifted a snake by putting it in his gnco's

My college boyfriend's roommate did that! But just with regular pants.

When I took my backpacking trip to Europe in 1997, I just brought two pairs of JNCOs, which I thought would be ok, because "hey, it's Europe! Ravers, right?" I got sonned so many times over those pants, including the time I rolled up to my first coffee shop in Amsterdam and the bartenders just fell over themselves laughing. "Your DADDY bought those trousers! Your DADDY bought those trousers!" I was pretty indignant that, no, I swear I had bought those trousers myself with the money I saved up from my job at Sam Goody.

Mine had a picture of a skunk on them, which I figured "Amsterdam -> weed -> skunk, right? They'll understand what I'm about."

I was *this* close to buying orange Jnco knock-offs in high school. My life would have been so much different....

I'm so proud of the fact that I never owned a pair of these despite having various friends who indulged in this hideous trend back in the dark 90s.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Monday, 15 July 2013 00:51 (ten years ago) link

I have a fantasy of working in an office and wearing jncos on casual friday to see what would happen.

I was self-conscious about my jeans in europe too because they didnt seem cool enough. They were levis 501s

Treeship, Monday, 15 July 2013 15:07 (ten years ago) link

I had to have khaki pants for a housecleaning job I had in the mid-90s and I bought a pair of men's JNCO khaki's, which were just like Dockers but with huge wide legs. I really liked them because I could wear knee pads under them. Then I wore them to job as a database manager where we could wear business clothes or khakis and a corporate uniform shirt. Then I dyed them purple.

I kind of miss those pants, actually.

clouds, Monday, 15 July 2013 15:23 (ten years ago) link

Yes! The Jnco and other assorted Pacific Sunwear/Hot Topic-esque khakis could be pretty awesome. I definitely had some pants that could seamlessly make the transition from telemarketing office to suburban pot den.
