When he did it, it was kind of street theater. I mean, he could bring people together. He was black, needless to say, but he was colorblind as an artist. In other words, his theory of art, of American art-making, was: you steal from everybody. I don’t care if you’re white, black, purple, or blue, if you make a sound that I like, I’m going to steal it, and then I’m going to acknowledge where I got it from. But I’m going to do everything I can to steal, borrow, it doesn’t really matter what word he used, I’m going to listen hard, take what I need from the various places in the culture that it happens to dwell.

How would one write a letter to the editor over anti illegal Immigration without sounding like a racist? If you were to write a 250 word letter to your paper over anti(It would a letter to the editor against the illegals and all of their freebies, states that have taken law and made it tougher for illegals there) illegal Immigration , how could you do it and not sound like a racist, yet get people's attention to this growing problem? Any ideas? The letter would have to apply to all sorts of communities and cities.

There was a man in line ahead of me at the store one time who was being kind of a pain to the cashier. The store was busy and she was getting a bit exasperated. Suddenly the guy says, "She don't like Mexicans! That girl don't like Mexicans!" Um, no. Your being Mexican hasn't a thing to do with it. She's annoyed because you're being a pain in the ass! I knew a woman who was like that, too. One time when we were having lunch together she confronted another woman who was there whom I didn't get along with and caused a big scene. Afterwards, when I asked her why she did that she immediately said, "it's because I'm black, isn't it? You're mad because I'm black!" I told her, "I don't care if you're black, white or purple with green spots, I'm upset because that was an uncomfortable and embarrassing public situation back there--OK? If I was the kind of person that wouldn't like you just because you're black, would I even be here with you?" She was sort of taken aback but then understood where I was coming from. Being of a minority race doesn't mean you have free license to screw up and/or act like a jerk and not get called on it, by anybody whether of your race or not.

My mom streamlines the phrase to an exasperated 'I do not care if you are PURPLE.' This is deployed at Racial Tension Moments in her store when a customer accuses her of prejudice because she declines their phoney rubber check. In all fairness to the woman, race is not the deciding factor on her side of the counter on such occasions.

https://fox2now.com/news/missouri/lawmakers-continue-probe-of-critical-race-theory-in-missouri-schools-despite-results-of-district-survey/
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Monday was the first day of school for many districts in Missouri. Over the summer, the state’s education department asked school districts if they taught critical race theory in a survey.
Last month, members of the Missouri House and Senate heard testimony on why critical race theory (CRT) should be banned in the state, but on Monday, they heard why schools should teach it. Of the 554 districts in the state, only one said it teaches CRT.
“I don’t think that people actually know what critical race theory is at one moment in time,” Former director of the Anti-Defamation League Karen Aroesty told the committee. “Learning about the history of race and racism is important.”

Over the summer, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) gave the 500 plus school districts a survey about CRT and the “1619 Project.” The first question read:Question: Does your LEA’s board-approved curriculum include lessons about CRT?The only school to answer yes was Kansas City Public Schools, explaining their answer by saying:“We offer an African Centered College prep magnet school that services both elementary and secondary students. The board also approved the 1619 Project service learning and community activism grant to be taught during summer school. The curriculum is fully aligned with the Missouri Learning Standards.”Five schools left the answer blank and 419 districts said no.The second question read:Question: Does your LEA’s board-approved curriculum include The New York Times 1619 Project?Three schools answered yes: Hazelwood School District, Kansas City Public Schools, and the School District of University City. Hazelwood explains its answer by saying:“4th Grade Social Studies – The 1619 Project is listed as one of the teacher resources about the arrival of enslaved Africans in Jamestown.8th Grade Social Studies – Students are given a reading of two paragraphs from the 1619 Project describing the arrival of enslaved Africans in Jamestown.US History (9th Grade) – The 1619 Project is mentioned in a suggested learning activity where President Trump discusses the 1619 Project and the 1776 project.”University City explained its answer by saying:“Our board did not approve the 1619 Project. One of our teachers used the resource during one unit of study with students.”
