The one of Charlotte in the bath looks so... louche!

Pic o' the day (for those of you keeping track of such things)...talkin' some smack to her grandmother. http://homepage.mac.com/alexinnyc/.Pictures/Photo%20Album%20Pictures/2004-04-29%2005.37.00%20-0700/Image-9FB9C26899D911D8.jpg§

That's my favourite one! She's telling mum that no she does not want to do that. (or she might just have some wind!) too cute alex!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 29 April 2004 13:12 (twenty years ago) link

Grandma -- is this Alex's wife's mother in NYC?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 April 2004 13:14 (twenty years ago) link

Aaaarrggghhhh!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 29 April 2004 13:15 (twenty years ago) link

Charlotte is even cuter than Alex's stray letters! e

She really does look like you dude!

Nickalicious otm, my brother and his wife are bringing my nephew home for the weekend, I can't wait to see him again, he's about 8 months old now.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 29 April 2004 18:55 (twenty years ago) link

Haha - in a show of solidarity with Alex in his predicament, I think we all should append characters to our ILX posts.

Great new pictures, Alex. Q

I like the thought of charlotte rebelling against alex's rebellious ways. p

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 29 April 2004 19:01 (twenty years ago) link

She'll run the Beyonce Knowles fan club one day.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 29 April 2004 19:03 (twenty years ago) link

She'll be on American Idol 24 singing "Independent Woman" and Beyonce, throat scratchy from millions of cigarettes, will gargle, "That was wonderful..."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 April 2004 19:05 (twenty years ago) link

Well, the only things she really rebels against so far are (a) the clock and (b) the need to have one's diapers changed i

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 29 April 2004 19:06 (twenty years ago) link

you shouldn't need to change your diapers. a

I guessed right!!! r

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 29 April 2004 19:20 (twenty years ago) link

Oh whoops - I just saw that other thread about Alex's problem, which rendered my comment up there kinda redundant. Sorry, I can't keep up with every thread in this place. €

Broheems (diamond), Thursday, 29 April 2004 19:24 (twenty years ago) link

I like how every day her facial expressions and overall shape are becoming more and more defined; she looks like both her parents pretty equally, which is excellent. can't congratulate you guys enough.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Thursday, 29 April 2004 22:16 (twenty years ago) link

Thanks, Matos (and everyone else whose written such nice things in the past few weeks). Yeah, the gradual (but swift) definition of her head/face/entire shape is rather remarkable....and admittedly somewhat startling. She seems to develop rapidly overnight. In fact, here's her little head just this morning.... http://homepage.mac.com/alexinnyc/.Pictures/Photo%20Album%20Pictures/2004-04-29%2005.37.00%20-0700/Image-9FB9DE3499D911D8.jpg?

Aw. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 1 May 2004 01:39 (twenty years ago) link

Both grandmothers look like they'll be the most awesome grandmothers to your little one, Alex. That's really great. Your baby does indeed look like a perfect amalgam of you and your wife, which must make you totally ecstatic. This thread is also a truly great and classic one and I'm glad it exists.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 1 May 2004 02:01 (twenty years ago) link

You sleeping at all yet?

My little one is just getting a night pattern down.

hector (hector), Saturday, 1 May 2004 02:57 (twenty years ago) link

Nah, the sleeping situation is still a bit of a problem. The problem really is the inconsistency of it. There is no pattern basically. She'll sleep in nice, big three hour chunks on night, and we get lulled into a false sense of security that she's adapting to the day/night routine....only to be rudely roused the next night by her absolutely demonic refusal to be still/quiet/calm etc. It's getting better, I suppose, but oh so very slowly. More frustratingly, she'll sleep incredibly soundly during the middle of the day (seriously, you could blow an air-horn next to her little basket and she won't so much as flinch). We'll get there, but there are -- literally -- miles to go before we sleep. But sometimes, she's a little quiet angel like this.... http://homepage.mac.com/alexinnyc/.Pictures/Photo%20Album%20Pictures/2004-04-30%2011.46.22%20-0700/Image-465161B09AD611D8.jpgú

What a heartbreaker! Treasure the quiet moments, Alex. You'll wax lyrical about them when she becomes a teen and you'll need the taser to keep the overheated boys at bay.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Saturday, 1 May 2004 17:51 (twenty years ago) link

She throwing gang signals in that first one?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 2 May 2004 01:55 (twenty years ago) link

SO CUTE!! these are all excellent, and i'm genuinely touched by pround of her you are.

Just unpacked our Baby Bjorn (as Charlotte has finally reached 8 lbs., which is the lightest one can be to be carried around in such a contraption)...and it turns out to be red and black --- KILLING JOKE COLOURS! HUZZAH!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:01 (twenty years ago) link

It begins! If it hasn't already.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:06 (twenty years ago) link

Musically speaking, the only song she's really responded favorably too -- oddly enough -- was the Clash's rendition of "Pressure Drop".

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:16 (twenty years ago) link

kids love the backbeat, I swear to god.

Sometimes, and I hate to say this to sleep deprived parents, but sometimes you have to do what you can to keep them awake to try and get their little schedules changed. I had to do it with Spencer, and it was horrible and we were both tired and cranky, but it eventually evened out.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 15:52 (twenty years ago) link

Well, we're taking her outside a lot more, now that the weather has warmed up, and conventional wisdom dictates that lots of fresh helps to tucker her out. We'll see.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 17:40 (twenty years ago) link

BABIES LOVE KILLING JOKE COLOURS BEST!!!

Although babies are able to differentiate between colors at birth, they prefer focusing their attention on contours, fixing their eyes on places where color contrasts are greatest. Toys in black, white and red will satisfy your baby`s preference since they provide numerous images with high contrasts.

Aja (aja), Thursday, 6 May 2004 04:40 (twenty years ago) link

She's beautiful, Alex! Best thread ever.

My favorite pic of all of them is near the top - you're wearing a Soft Boys shirt and holding her head by yours. :-)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 6 May 2004 20:38 (twenty years ago) link

Haha, I love that middle one -- it's all 'OOOO!' on her part.

Was Alex on 16th street today with a bag of gifts for his child?

TheNewJMod (JMod), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:30 (twenty years ago) link

He was! He mentions it over on the Curve thread that he revived. Wotadotingdad.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 May 2004 22:45 (twenty years ago) link

Hahahah...yes I was. They weren't gifts (more like bags of anti-poop-related gear), but yeah,...that was me.
