my only pearl jam story is the time I left a festival because I didn't want to see them play, and then eddie vedder's ex-wife crashed our restaurant reservations

you're all jerks imo

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 27 November 2013 22:22 (ten years ago) link

Actually, I got into a conversation about Pearl Jam with a coworker. Do you happen to remember who opened for them in 2000? I thought it was Sleater-Kinney, but my coworker thought Jesus Lizard.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Wednesday, 27 November 2013 22:26 (ten years ago) link

Off work today, but it's not all good. I'm forcing myself to get thru Computer Chess.

Sleater Kinney opened the 2003 tour iirc. In 2000 it was Sonic Youth -- I double-checked online, they did a few dates with Supergrass as well.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 27 November 2013 22:42 (ten years ago) link

Ah, right, I thought Sonic Youth had opened, I just had the year wrong. Thanks!

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Wednesday, 27 November 2013 22:46 (ten years ago) link

Sleater Kinney opened the 2003 tour iirc

True! It's the only time I saw either band. Also, for the encore, S-K, Steve Earle and Cheetah Chrome all came out and played Sonic Reducer.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 22:57 (ten years ago) link

Oh no, wait. Cheetah Chrome played on Sonic Reducer (duh!) and S-K and Steve Earle came out for Fortunate Son and Rockin in the Free World.

Good show.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 22:59 (ten years ago) link

i only saw pearl jam once, at lolla '92, jones beach.

So far in my big day of just watching movies, I've knocked down ... one and a half.

Fled at 3:45 and made the BAM screening of Michael Ritchie's Smile. "Only if Florence Henderson dies."

Now should probably find out when dinner is tom'w.

Another year, another Wednesday of NOTHING. (Oddly enough my initial post still applies even though I'm in a different library -- we're normally at four staff and today counting me it's two.)

woke up, wrote a thing about okkervil river, wrote a thing about grimes, now going to work out and pick up a shipment of soda and a shipment of bottled water and a shipment of candy and go down to the theater and cook the chili and cook the curry and go to the bank to replenish the petty cash and load the drive with whatever this weekend's movie is into the RAID and make cranberry sauce and buy weed. hoping for a very relaxing tomorrow.
