I just made demos on a four-track in the 90s with my guitar, a second hand drum machine and a mate's bass if I could borrow it. They weren't really for anything, there wasn't ever going to be a group or a live performance or anything. That track is a reworking of something from about 1994, done in about 2000 or 2001 when I was in Italy (so without access to a bass). I think the master cassette was getting very near the end when I recorded it, which has made it sound a bit wobbly, but it's just about get-away-able-with.

I haven't done anything since 2001/02. I bought a Focusrite interface thing* a while back which came with Ableton Live Lite, with the intention of trying to start recording things again. I even bought a keyboard with drum pad things on. But there never seems to be enough time to learn how anything works or how to play it.

*clearly I know nothing about the technicalities

I've decided I like Ken C's the most, because of the amusingly daft lyrics

Volume Seven?

I think the morrissey pre-cover was the last one, oh wait it was the New Order one..

Anyway, it does feel like its time for Vol 7, doesn't it?

After a decade and a half of inactivity, I've made four new tunes over the last year so I can stick something on V7 should it ever happen

If you make a new thread, they will come.

Or not.

Mark G, Saturday, 23 January 2016 12:36 (eight years ago) link

Making a new thread might confer stewardship and I am but a song and dance man.

is there going to be a theme or anything? I was feeling vaguely inspired by pplains' misdirected email post the other day.

service desk hardman (El Tomboto), Wednesday, 27 January 2016 01:15 (eight years ago) link

I'm up for one of these, even tho I no longer have my lovely studio mic. Its been a year or 2 since I did any tunes :(

Interesting. No, wait, the other thing: tedious. (Trayce), Wednesday, 27 January 2016 05:35 (eight years ago) link

They're doing an ILX pre-cover now, the Pet Shop Boys "Whoopee" or whatever it's called.

Mark G, Wednesday, 27 January 2016 10:23 (eight years ago) link

Super. No that's what the album is called.

Oh well, that's the end of that then. See you all in another two years.
