that chalkboard thing upthread is the most infuriating thing I've seen in this thread.

these GIF-share type things, even the ones that are well-meaning and poor executed, plus the onslaught of Yahoo Comments level in-status brawling between strangers on friends' statuses has had me wanting to take a break from FB and social media for a month or so.

the problem being, I have valid reasons I do have to use it, as my theatre company sends important updates via FB-only, and I get invited to events this way...and once I wind up there, intending just to read the thing I went there for, I wind up using it as always.

FB should be renamed "dailyreminderthatpeopleareshit.com"

Anything with the words "Buzzfeed" and "introvert" in it will make me want to kill people.

erry red flag (f. hazel), Monday, 12 May 2014 22:05 (ten years ago) link

It's really an "I no longer have energy, friendships, interactions or conversations" post. Not that I don't sympathise, but I don't make macros about it. Just complain here, I guess, which isn't much better,

Say what you like about the passive-aggressive dick with no energy left for communicating with people like a normal human being without a stick up his arse, at least he has good taste in fonts.

What is wrong with songs? Absolutely nothing. Songs are great. (DL), Tuesday, 13 May 2014 12:54 (ten years ago) link

To be really real, it's a pretty "stick up arse" font.

This is probably as bad a time as any to bring up the time my college friend hung up on a woman who called and said nothing but "Amazing Mother!" into the phone over and over again. It turned out to have been the mother of Mae Zhang, a housemate's girlfriend.

Clockwork Orange, I presume, though it's a weird thing to worry about kids not having read / seen.

Yuri Bashment (ShariVari), Sunday, 18 May 2014 11:46 (ten years ago) link

It's a nerd youth, despairing that the non-nerd-youth of today have not read/seen A Clockwork Orange, unlike the glory days of previous generations. A Sandi Thom thing, if you will.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 18 May 2014 12:53 (ten years ago) link

Ohhhhhh I see.

I've read and seen A Clockwork Orange and still didn't get it so take that meme poster.

carl agatha, Sunday, 18 May 2014 13:05 (ten years ago) link

Yeah me too, read Clockwork Orange in HS, saw the movie, have (when a younger nerd) used "my droogies" in conversation, STILL didn't get that poster.
